Upgrading from a HD7850 1gb

The rig

AMD 965 PHENOM2 (running 4ghz)
8gigs g.skill 1600
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P v5 (mobo)
Sapphire HD 7850 1gb
Cooler Master 460w

Im on a $250 to $300 budget for the video card and later im going to upgrade the psu,mobo and cpu.Maybe go Intel.Just cant swing it all right now.I know the psu is alittle weak but im hoping to slide for a month or so until upgrade it to a 700+.

Well in that range you can choose either the AMD R9 280 (or the R9 280x for 320$ on newegg which is essentially an HD 7970 card) or the nvidia GTX 760

Don't buy a 4GB 760, its a waste of money. That extra Vram won't be used.

Figured that too.

I dont think my current psu will do a 770 or my system would even push it.

I think im going to just put the cash in a mobo and cpu.Seems to be my best option.It sucks because I wont have the 300 on hand to upgrade the gpu for a few months :/

I would get a new CPU/Mobo and 4gb more ram first if i were you,i upgraded from a phenom 940 to a 3570k and it was a huge upgrade,you can get the cheapest haswell i5 and h87 mobo and it will probably be just as good as an unlocked one with a z87 mobo.

Bought a hasbeen 4770 and a Gigabyte 1055 mobo. I was SOOOO close with the 280 and something in me said no.

That should be a nice improvement, as I went from a 965 to ivy myself and it was a nice jump.
