Yes, "you're right", most of people say/think win 8/8.1 it is a bad one, so maybe are all wrong, "you're right" like those under 1% who say that Ferrari it is the best car in the world(it is after all the peak of tech for cars), I am under the rest of people who are wrong and think the best car is a usual one(you know, that in which you can take the laptop, beside the 24yrs model....)...so "you're right", and let stay ontopic...

Most people are like you, they've never really used Windows 8/8.1, but instead base their option on assumption and what they've heard people say.

Yes, "you're right" again, if used mean to stay with that OS more than a day(my time spend to make it to look/feel/work right for me), after all, if you don't like something keep pushing, in the end the cube will fit in the circle...

Home Premium is limited to 16GB of RAM. So, no, it isn't just as good.
99,9% of people can't realistically benefit from more than 8GB anyway. Even with newest games.

Today, yeah, but in the near future? I would like the option to use more than 16GB, and I think it is worth the little extra. Especially when we are talking about something that we could potentially still be using 6 years from now.

well there i dont agree id get me a bugatti veyron SS if I could. my main concern is can you get win 8.1 to look like vista or 7 where u have the start button (though i dont really care where they put that , but progs do matter) and desktop over all with icon shortcuts etc. Ive heard 8.1 boots faster but i gotta say i didnt hear much improvement between going from vista 64 to 7 64 and a lot of ppl saying its made for tablets. I do pay attention to pplz opinion if they use/have it. When i go to buy hardware its easier I go to amazon or newgg and read opinions what ive found is theres ALWAYS some moron who HATES the product who got a broken one to start, the funny part is right after the rant they say but i just got a new replacement and it works well so you have to follow the mean not individuals and ive heard a lot of complaints and a faster boot and over all speed improvement so those are the mean. Guess only spot to go from here is get the new comp and dl a copy and see but id love it if they came out with 9 ASAP(built for pc).

BTW im not stating facts if you read the question im asking for an opinion. i can state facts about vista and 7 but not 8 or 8.1 and trying to find out if its worth staying with vista till 9 comes out since 7 isnt much improved one selling point was side by side windows, when you hear that u dont need to hear more its BS and from the beginning i heard 8 was for tablets so i guessed 8.1 was to fix that impression and make it more like 7 but faster in many areas.

8 already was faster than 7. 8.1 is a more refined version of 8. If you use something like Start8 you'll never again think you are on a tablet operating system. Mine looks and feels like the W7 interface now, and works better. In fact I'm going to go ahead and put W8.1 on my main rig now that I've been using it for quite awhile on my fiance's pc. You really won't be disappointed.

Well, 100% to look like win 7 , 8/8.1, you can't do , but with some tweak and 3party software you can make it to look almost like 7, when I say that I don't like the underhood changes,, one it is so called fast boot(it is "booting" faster than 7), because it is not a real shutdown at 8, it is a hybrid-sleep-hibernate, ofcourse it is wake faster, not booting faster, I don't like to be lied, why MS paint the apple, put a leaf of cherry, and tell us "look , we are amazing , we have a big cherry", why?; in the end I did not belive that after Win Me and Vista, MS will repeat the same type a failure, so I tried , but after a day I must to say that it is not for descktop/laptop, maybe it is for tablet/touch devices, I have none touch devcice with win support to see how work on it. Just download and test yourself, if have time, maybe you will like it...

Metro Start Screen and it's apps are very much designed for a touch screen, yes. I have a laptop with a touch screen and I used it for about 30 seconds. Then I installed ClassicShell and went right back to the traditional start menu. Once you do that, most of the OS is the same as Windows 7. If you don't like the start screen, you never really have to use it.

What a shutdown is changes constantly. The fact is the OS maker is the one that defines what a shutdown is. OSX went to the kernel hibernation method years ago. It used to be that a shutdown didn't even physically turn off the PC. So who are you to say it isn't a real shutdown? If Microsoft calls it a shutdown, then it is a shutdown. Oh, and if you don't like it, then turn it off, they do give you that option. Improving performance, and improving boot time is a major point people seem to dwell on with performance, is a good thing. I give them credit for including the option to turn it off if you don't like it, you can't ask more than that, and there really is no grounds to argue fast boot is a bad thing or even a lie.

My main rig (system specs) and my friends laptop (a few years old HP) had issues with the hybrid shutdown, so I believe including a way to disable it was a must.

Unless you're attracted by the concept of trudging through thousands of pages of detailed information before you start to use it that is what you're getting. They could have been clearer about many things for sure, but on the other hand it's a major release of Windows. It would be thousands of pages. I think what you want is MS using their prescient powers to see how you would react and release info accordingly.

Wrong, what I want it is to have options, if you can't make easy options to disable/enable things in your OS, at least let me have the option to buy the precedent OS(yeah, I know I can find on some retails, I talk about MS store)...

its just that 7 is the only one i had for a while other than vist x64 ultimate and im fimilar to that style and even there i revelt the look to classic. I dont see how win can be radically improved other then under the hood bs like dx and faster boot and security for a change, they should not release anything for 5 yrs and come up with win 9 in one yr and use the other 4 to test it, basically the exact opposite of reality.

It is like when buy a car, don't look only to engine, but I think the failure(it is a failure anyway you look) of win8 ti is because of greed of MS(or those who lead/own the MS), they try to make a OS short than 4 years(now thei don't call ServicePack but Update), at each OS try to force you to buy new hardware, the new hardware almost have only drivers for the last Windows, try to stick the OS on new hardware(not easy to put another Windows version), try to make it to be rent in the future, they try, some of us will fall for them, some not... in the end it is life after MS and Windows, I can live without PC...

There is a few tools out on the net that do bring back aero style and also a start menu but it takes work. If you want Aero and a real start menu- use Win 7 Pro...

They pretty clearly documented Fast Boot.

Fast Boot is easily disabled/enabled, and how to do it is also clearly documented. Oh, and they do give you the option to use the previous OS, Microsoft has downgrade rights. Try doing at least some research.
