99,9% of people can't realistically benefit from more than 8GB anyway. Even with newest games.Home Premium is limited to 16GB of RAM. So, no, it isn't just as good.

Today, yeah, but in the near future? I would like the option to use more than 16GB, and I think it is worth the little extra. Especially when we are talking about something that we could potentially still be using 6 years from now.99,9% of people can't realistically benefit from more than 8GB anyway. Even with newest games.

Most people are like you, they've never really used Windows 8/8.1, but instead base their option on assumption and what they've heard people say.

BTW im not stating facts if you read the question im asking for an opinion. i can state facts about vista and 7 but not 8 or 8.1 and trying to find out if its worth staying with vista till 9 comes out since 7 isnt much improved one selling point was side by side windows, when you hear that u dont need to hear more its BS and from the beginning i heard 8 was for tablets so i guessed 8.1 was to fix that impression and make it more like 7 but faster in many areas.
Well, 100% to look like win 7 , 8/8.1, you can't do , but with some tweak and 3party software you can make it to look almost like 7, when I say that I don't like the underhood changes,, one it is so called fast boot(it is "booting" faster than 7), because it is not a real shutdown at 8, it is a hybrid-sleep-hibernate, ofcourse it is wake faster, not booting faster, I don't like to be lied, why MS paint the apple, put a leaf of cherry, and tell us "look , we are amazing , we have a big cherry", why?; in the end I did not belive that after Win Me and Vista, MS will repeat the same type a failure, so I tried , but after a day I must to say that it is not for descktop/laptop, maybe it is for tablet/touch devices, I have none touch devcice with win support to see how work on it. Just download and test yourself, if have time, maybe you will like it...

My main rig (system specs) and my friends laptop (a few years old HP) had issues with the hybrid shutdown, so I believe including a way to disable it was a must.Oh, and if you don't like it, then turn it off, they do give you that option. Improving performance, and improving boot time is a major point people seem to dwell on with performance, is a good thing. I give them credit for including the option to turn it off if you don't like it, you can't ask more than that, ...
i aagree when i went from 8 to 12 gb i noticed no improvement. Granted i only using comp to the floor on first person shooter not rendering nor graphics stuffToday, yeah, but in the near future? its just that 7 is the only one i had for a while other than vist x64 ultimate and im fimilar to that style and even there i revelt the look to classic. I dont see how win can be radically improved other then under the hood bs like dx and faster boot and security for a change, they should not release anything for 5 yrs and come up with win 9 in one yr and use the other 4 to test it, basically the exact opposite of reality.Yes, "you're right", most of people say/think win 8/8.1 it is a bad one, so maybe are all wrong, "you're right" like those under 1% who say that Ferrari it is the best car in the world(it is after all the peak of tech for cars), I am under the rest of people who are wrong and think the best car is a usual one(you know, that in which you can take the laptop, beside the 24yrs model....)...so "you're right", and let stay ontopic...

Wrong, what I want it is to have options, if you can't make easy options to disable/enable things in your OS, at least let me have the option to buy the precedent OS(yeah, I know I can find on some retails, I talk about MS store)...
