I hate that! I wish more would switch to the 6-Pin PCI-E connector and put it on the edge of the board.

Actually, apart from Core i7 920 up to 980X

Funny... You missed westmere and gulftowns... i was different kind of animal OC wise, and x58 had actually a relatively long life. RAM? I bought three dual kits, and split them into two... Only drawback X58 had and has, is ICH10 and that's it...

The platform is dead, and not because of lack of power but part shortage... X58 boards are deficit. I still have few CPU laying around... nehalem indeed was enormous boost vs 775, nor sandy, ivy and hasfail had firmly stomped it. Especially clocked Gulftown users... they can spend few thousands bucks on new devil canyon... and what they will get putting aside synthetics? 5-10FPS increase on low res AAA games lulz? Certainly I got a cheap x79 upgrade... and I gained only SATA3 as performance boost, nothing else stellar really.

I hate that! I wish more would switch to the 6-Pin PCI-E connector and put it on the edge of the board.

I always wonder too, where is the problem to put some kind of connector on the other side of the board... with my old X58 I soldered directly on the other side and made a wired extension...
