So I have been waiting for last Friday (Yesterday from this post) for quite awhile now looking forward to purchasing a new Haswell-E chip (5930K), DDR4 Ram, and a Motherboard to bring it all together. Now originally I was stuck on which motherboard to purchase because many that were coming out sounded pretty slick and nice (That and the NDA was keeping a lot under wraps). So I waited and finally after seeing preliminary pricing and the launch I had decided to go with the MSI Gaming 9 Variant for its feature set, looks, and the price.

So newegg decided not to stock it early (Or at least I Never saw it) but they had the others including the MSI Gaming 7 and the ROG Rampage V (Which sold out extremely fast). So I kept waiting and checked back every once in awhile while at work to see when (Or IF) it would ever be posted for sale. Then it finally showed up and I was ready, I put them in the basket and got ready to check out until I ran into an issue...

While checking out, I noticed that the price listed at the top of the page was 1278.97 but when I got down to pay it told me the price was going to be $1398!!! So im sitting there looking at this wondering what is up with this and began investigating my cart. I had a free Steel Series headset in the cart but it was listed right at 0 bucks because of the purchase with the MSI motherboard. I then checked the other products and did the math which with the free shipping included still came out to 1278.97. So I was starting to get curious until I noticed an odd addendum on the MSI Motherboard, it was listed as Freight Shipping at a price of $119.99 for the base shipping price.

I stared for a few minutes thinking this cannot be right as its listing this motherboard in the same category as a T.V (Big Screen) or a washing machine. I was beyond confused at how this could be, I mean my Corsair Obsidian 800D from newegg was only 10 bucks to ship and I hope to god it fits that motherboard otherwise we have a new size motherboard on our hands that takes special delivery.

Contacted newegg and talked with a Customer Service Agent and he was confused by what I was telling him and decided to check for himself. Low and behold he now sees exactly what the problem is and see that for some reason the package is labeled as freight or white glove treatment. He could not override it after a long list of tries even from his manager and told me I could not order the motherboard until they get this fixed next week unless I paid the wrong shipping charge because the system actually was forcing the expensive shipping no matter what. He said they would honor any pricing for my account and deals (Including the free headset) when I finally can purchase it right next week.

So I guess I like any of the normal newegg customers are stuck for awhile :p Unless of course you would think its funny to see a Freight Truck (Or really just a bigger than normal delivery vehicle) come bring you a motherboard :D

Thought id share because all in all it was a pretty fun situation, the CSA guy was pretty nice and tried to help but there was nothing more he could do.

tl:dr Newegg messed up and listed the new MSI Gaming 9 X99 Motherboard as a heavy appliance needing a freight truck to deliver it and costs well over 100 bucks to ship until they fix it.

Ha... I've seen that happen before. It happened to me once with a kit of RAM. $120 shipping to deliver a $65 kit of RAM...

They fixed it in a day or two after I pointed it out to them over the phone, but with this being a holiday weekend, fixing this issue probably won't happen til next week sometime.

I feel your pain, got me thinking i should get that board, but the wife's gonna kill me. I already purchased the sli plus so maybe, I should keep it as well and just buy another 5820k and give my wife my z87 build which would trickle her z68 to either my dad or brother, then who ever is last gets the phenom 2 system.

Ghost I cant wait till you get your stuff man.
Did you order everything else?

I ordered it all at once because I felt ordering and waiting was pointless because of warranties/returns and the time frame. I ordered about 2 hours ago give or take and ended up with this

i7 5930K
MSI X99S Gaming 9 AC
Free Steel Series Gaming Headset (With Motherboard purchase)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb (4x4gb) 2666mhz Cas Latency 16 (Not as happy about this because of price, Wanted G skill but they were completely sold out of anything below 2666 that was not Crucial branded and had a HeatSpreader).

Overall happy, cannot wait to play with it! I am considering selling the headset mostly because I already own a Triton Gaming Headset.

I thought about going 5930k once again but nah...maybe for the sli board. I'm gonna try and finish things up now, just got back from Performance PCS, the swiftech lock n seals were too short again 41-65mm and I didn't want to take a chance so i got some crystal links(bitspower) and another koolance connector.

With how good the 5820K is and the fact the SLI board supports 3 way CFX/SLI I would think the 5820K fits it perfectly so I would stick with it! That is also the easiest way at times if you can just return stuff :p

I wish LC stuff was a lot easier to obtain in Austin because most of the places that have that stuff have poor selection so I still end up ordering from FrozenCPU. I did just order the adaptor for my waterblock so I can easily swap out for my new system.

I used to love Newegg...their customer service although still somewhat good pales in comparison to years past...
I haven't ordered anything from them for awhile because its cheaper for me to drive 30 miles and pay taxes at MicroCenter than it is to purchase from Newegg...
When I built this system it was $245 cheaper to go MicroCenter...

Anyways I had a similar issue with Newegg..I was trying to order a TV...Had a sale price that disappeared as soon as I put it in the cart....called Newegg and they said the sale was over...
Price stayed at the sale price for a week...
I ended up getting the same TV at HH Gregg for $100 less after tax...Oh...I guess that was my last attempt of purchase at Newegg...
Yeah...not what they used to be...

So true they completely fell off and they are becoming more and more expensive. Been shopping there for over 12 years and as the years come and go, my purchases have declined.

Don't get me wrong...for anyone that doesn't live within driving range of a MicroCenter its a good etailer or if you want something MicroCenter doesn't have as they don't have Newegg's selection..Newegg is still the best/ almost tied with Amazon...lol

Not sure if anyone remembers Pricewatch...Newegg got its start there...they were always the cheapest for the best stuff....but like Pricewatch something better had to come along...
