Vista Installation Hangs

I have tried to install Vista Ultimate x86 onto my Windows XP Pro, but the installation hangs at "Expanding Files" phase(phase 2 of 5) around 34%-38%

I tried to all dis below:
- install from windows XP Sp2
- install from boot DVD
- install from safe mode of win XP
- update motherboard BIOS to the latest version
- run CPU & Memory stress test (to see if my PC will hang or not)

My PC spec:
- AMD 64 X2 3800+ AM2
- MSI MS 7250 nForce570 Ultra
- 1GB DDR2 RAM Corsair XMS2 PC5400
- Palit GeForce 7600GS OC Sonic 256GDDR3
- 250GB Seagate
- 2x160GB Seagate
- Panasonic SATA DVD-RAM 18x Drive
- Intergrated Dual Gigabit Realtek Gigabit LAN
- SMC PCI Gigabit LAN
- Aztech Wireless Card

I have search about this problem on google, but there's only problem about the beta version or RC version... even though i tried their solutions, the installation still hangs!

I hope sum1 can help my problem....

I've been told that upgrading takes longer than a fresh install, and some times can take up to (And if not longer) than an hour, are you sure it actually hung and not just that you were getting impatient? I do it all the time, so I end up having to walk away and find something else to do so I'm not tempted to hit the reset button.

how long for the upgrade process take actually? i have tried both clean install n upgrade installation...

the systems seems hang bcoz the three little dot that suppose to blinking not blinking anymore at 34%-38%, and my mouse cannot move anymore.... it is still considered not hanging? plus the red LED of my hardisk activity stop blinking, either no light at all OR remain lit

return it to the place you bought it. unless this is a bootlegg then of course you got a bad copy.

honestly... mine is not the original one... but a lot of my friends used the same DVD and can install it without any problem..

Ok, yes that proves that it's hanging.

To be honest I don't know how long, I haven't used Vista since RC1, and that took about 40 minutes to do a clean install (including full HDD wipe), you might want to try leaving it for an hour and see what happens, if it's still the same then there is a problem.

I had that problem when I first tried installing vista, but for some strange reason when I tried installing it on another partition it worked fine. the other option is to leave it for a few hrs

i have tried it again... now it seems to hang on any percentage but still on the second phase, the "expanding files" phase... i even leave it for 1 hour after it the mouse cannot be moved, yet it still hang... the hardisk activity LED seems to always lit

honestly... mine is not the original one... but a lot of my friends used the same DVD and can install it without any problem..

burn a new copy

now i had managed to install it but from booting straight from DVD, plus i had to disable improper driver recognition and format the partition first... it seems like vista had some problem with wireless PCI card, since after vista installation complete,it does not detect & install proper driver for my wireless card....
