Today is the official launch day of NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card and Sparkle is one of the first companies revealing final silicon. It comes in two flavors, an 'ordinary' GeForce 8800 Ultra and a beefed up version named Calibre P880 ULTRA. While the first one features 612MHz/2160MHz core and memory clock respectively, the thermoelectric cooled (TEC) P880 got super fast 650MHz/2250MHz instead. The prices of these cards are unannounced yet.

GeForce 8800 ULTRA Series - SF-PX88ULTRA768D3-HP

Taipei, Taiwan - May 2, 2007 - SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd., the professional VGA card manufacturer and supplier, today proudly unveiled the SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA Graphic Card. Incorporating the newest NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra graphic processor, SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card brings incredible core and memory clock speed to drive the latest PC games.

Based on NVIDIA's next generation G80 architecture, the SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card adopts innovative unified architecture, dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations, delivering up to 2x the gaming performance of prior generation GPUs. Built upon technologies such as NVIDIA Lumenex Engine, providing support for DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0, NVIDIA Quantum Effects technology for physics computation and GigaThread Technology for extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.

With miraculous high core and memory speed, the SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA is the most advanced graphic card ever built. In order to make users game visions a reality, the SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card runs at an untouchable core speed of 612MHz and 2160MHz memory clock with 768MB GDDR3 memory. The SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphics card's all-new Microsoft DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 engine features 128 stream processors with incredible 1500MHz shader clock to provides film-quality visual effects, such as high dynamic range (HDR) lighting, at real-time frame rates.

The SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card also supports for HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) and NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology, providing the highest quality High-Definition video for HD video enthusiasts. The SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card already has the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo, which means it passed rigorous tests made by WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) for Windows Vista compliance.

"DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0 make a huge difference in the way a game will look, and will ultimately bring a whole new level of realism and polish to several magnum opuses, such as Crysis and so on." Said Kevin Wang, sales director of SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd. " Embracing highest speed ever achieve on graphic cards, the SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card surely deliver ultra-realistic DirectX 10 gaming experiences and unparalleled image quality. The SPARKLE GeForce 8800 ULTRA graphic card is the best choice for the absolute highest frame rates and 3D rendering quality demand, allowing for super high-quality settings in even the most demanding games."

Yayyyy. I hate to say it, but if these cards perform better, and are quieter, and don't have all the built in crap I might have to go for the green camp.

Piss on ATI day..

now now, they have great midrange cards for the everyday man like us....

thats where I'm at too...if the R600 is a bust, i will have to go green again...my old 6800gt was nice but was the last card i owned by nv..

I think that the Sparkle model look awsome...it has a sleek stylish look....too bad all you see of the card after installation is the bottom and side...they should make cards that mount top facing out...so we can see the pretty coolers better...:rockout:

TEC is supposed to be an uber nice cooling method. Sparkle looks like its in a position of dominance with this 8800 Ultra.

I just dont like the concept on tec cooling on air, uses so much power when uber efficient standard air or integrated water cooling would suffice

Wow...but on my board (P5N-SLi) the PCI-E slot is quite close to the other (about 2 PCI things away from each other)...so saying as the 8800 takes up 2 its self, and the extra cooling means it would be almost impossible...even if it did physically fit it would be a bugger to fit.

And cost the best part of £1100 :O.

And it would take up allot of power.

And heat.

I still want one though.

Yea. I've been holding out for R600. I built a new PC for DX10 as soon as Vista was released. If ATI doesn't get their F'ing S together, I might lose my patience.

Patience patience Gentlemen! I think after all these articles and speculation we will probably find as usual that each camp has strong cards within a particular price segment, I am guessing that if you want to pay high end top buck for a $500 plus card NVidia may just shave it, ATi will shave the mid range and pretty even on the low end, thats just guesswork of course but within the full DX10 range of each camp there will be major contenders from each side, I really dont beleive one of them will dominate the whole range in either performance or price terms.
