hi im saveing up for a new rig i came a cross this set up.

what do u guys think or do u have a beter Systeem in mind my € range is about 1000 thx

to save the money, I would get just the plain jane 8800 GTS. You can OC it yourself.

Also, not sure about the RAM. I would go with OCZ or G.Skill

If you don't need all the extra wifi junk then just get the P5B Deluxe, Get some better memory...I recommend my G.skill ddr800 phu2-2gbhz (D9's). What about a better cpu cooler, stock coolers are pretty much junk.
Are you planning on Overclocking? I assume so considering the forum you're posting on! If so have a quick read at the link in my Sig.

Otherwise it looks pretty good. It'll be a good system for sure!
Also, check reviews on your case, find out what kind of fans it takes, and what spots it has open, you may want to add case fans for better airflow, espcially since 8800's run pretty hot and will increase your case's ambient temperature.

Supporting d44ve on both accounts. Also, consider one of the Hitachi T7500 range, they're faster than that caviar. Make sure it's one of the ones with a 16MB buffer though.

Make sure you get a good after market cooler too.

For cheap as chips but incredible cooling: Arctic Cooling 7
For more expensive but even better cooling: Tuniq Tower 120 or Zalman CNPS9700 LED

go with a e6420 you can overclock it to e6600 overclocked speeds (3.4-3.5) and it has 4mb cache, its like 1/2 the price and you get the same performance . not sure how the e6320 overclocks but witht he right ram/mobo I'm sure you'll get 3.2+ very easily.

everything else looks good you going to use a windowed case or non window? you could opt for a gamextreme psu by Ocz thier real good and maybe cheaper... also get some ddr2 6400 ram, I think you'll be better off with it if your going to be overclocking.. are you going to overclock?

And I agree with d44ve on just getting a GTS..save some money on the MB and the Vid Card, get some better memory and better cooling products. Even if you don't plan to OC, it's peace of mind.

ddr 800 is a must, if not your going to bottleneck that cpu if you choose to oc and it will also limit the oc, as for everything else, looks good if your not into oc your gpu as some are not, even though they would oc the cpu go with the factory oc and have fun, there one hell of a card anyway despite the stuff that is said about them, there gaming perf and benches go hand in hand with this and ati r600 isnt here yet. hdd i would go with seagate, meh im biased but they have some really good sata2 hdd's out at the moment with 16mb cache and perpendicular recording, i find them nice and fast. im still having teething problems with my p5b (specs not updated) but have still hit 3ghz stock voltage so take from that what you will

What do you guys think of the e6420? I think I would def go with it over a e6600 from what I've heard/read. If I could sell my cpu easily I would get one right now. $230 here in Canada

that one has the best stock cooler. Overclocking is simple with c2d, and very safe as long as you aint prone to messing up/putting in to much volts and hitting ok even than you'll prob live.

You just have to watch what your doing and your temps and your very safe.

Man, that took me like 7 or 8 times reading it and I still dont know what all you said.

I think you said you picked that version of the GTS because you think it has better cooling. However, the cooling is all the same between all the GTS versions.

Yep, d44ve has a point.
And that extra 20 could go towards better cooling fans for that case! Plus ethernet is faster than wifi any day. Unless you wanna lug your case around and use wireless I really see no point to it, at least from my perspective, but it's a very popular version of the P5B series, so obviously my perspective isn't necessarily the popular one!

No matter what cooling's on the 8800 they run warm.

And OC-ing doesn't necessarily break things if you're careful and know what you're doing...research and knowlege my brother.

Stick with eVGA as they give you lifetime warranty (as long as you register your product with them). I'd suggest that you get some other brand of ram and the regular version of the 8800 GTS (there's really no need for you to spend extra cash on something that you can easily do yourself). Other than those two, I think you're good to go

edit: By the way, do you use Firefox 2? You should check it out... it comes with an automatic spell checker that would make some of your posts a bit easier to read

what about saving a few bucks with a e6420/6320? ofc if you dont think you will ever overclock you might be better off getting an amd cpu and mobo combo.. I'm not sure what chip from amd compares to the e6600 @ stock (dont think you can overclock it much anyway) but amd is a cheaper route since you can get a good motherboard for cheaper than a conroe board and thier chips have dropped in price alot.

I'm going to crash soon, been backing up my data/installing vista but I'm having problems with my raid set-up on my motherboard... hopefully I finish it up soon or 2morrow.

e6420 overclocked FTW.

I got something to add as well.
It seems that you could save some money by getting the E6320 or E6430 (I believe thats correct). They are new CPUs that have 4mb of cache, but is clocked slightly lower than the E6600. You could easily OC these beyond the stock E6600 and save some cash as well.

Also, for the RAM I would suggest getting DDR2-800 RAM.
I would go with either the Buffalo Firestix, Crucial Ballistix or the G Skill w/ black heatsinks.
These all have Micron D9 chips and are the best OCers.

the difference is ~.13 ghz. it's somehwere buried in the super pi 1m thread, but me and someone else did a comparason. he dropped his e6400 to stock speeds, and it was just a little shy of my time. im sure it gets more of an advantage at higher fsb's though.

The only difference between the 6300/6400 and the 6320/6420 is that the 6320/6420 has 4mb of cache just like the 6600. The 6300/6400 only has 2mb of cache. Hence, they performed a little less when OC to 6600 stock speeds.

Buffalo did use Epilida chips on ONE batch sent out to Microcenter last year. However, now they ONLY use Micron D9 chips. They are the only company you can call and they will tell you the chips they use. Plus their customer service rocks. The G Skills and these Firestix run the same when OCed, pretty much. However, the Crucial Ballistix slightly outperforms both of these since Micron owns Crucial and these sticks undergo more testing than the other 2 brands.

If you OC Micron D9s and go above 2.2V I would suggest a cooler for your RAM since they will run hot. Also, some Micron D9 RAM comes in as RMA by not running at the specs, but these can be easily replaced.

Yeah, well I think some of those Elpilida Buffalo's ended up in Newegg's Stock...cause I believe that's what mine were. But none-the-less my D9 G.skill rock. I use active cooling on my memory, the Corsair XMS Airflow...works wonders! Also adds airlfow for the NB, can't complain about that!

I understand the difference in cache sizes, but I was more curious on OC-ability and by how much more is performance improved even at stock speeds, if the average OC was higher on the new 4MB 6320/6420..cause I could hit 3.36 on my 6300 with stock 1.32v.
