Well my friend has an Emachine system. With a 2.2 ghz Athlon XP. 1 gig of ram. not dual-channel. and a 180 gig hard drive. All of these specs would be able to run oblivion xpt. His current videocard is a PCI Radeon 9250. I noticed the board had an AGP 8x slot. I was wondering what would be a good card that would run oblivion that he might be able to buy. His price range is $50-$150. either major chipset manufacturer would do, But he is partial to ATI.

How much do you want to spend on one? I have a sapphire X800GTO unlocked to 16 pipes and bios overclocked that is perfectly stable and has been for almost a year.

Oldblivion mod, recomended it to a friend that can only run PCI cards (bloody Dell machines...), runs Oblivion better than Ultra Low settings ever did, on a FX5200. Gets him 20-25fps out doors, and about 30 inside
Playable frame rates, and allows you to save up for a whole PC if you want :)

I would be worried about the psu and what it can handle. the x800 ati or 850 should be ok
but pushing the limit of that psu POWER IS A problem on emachines.
