anyone use one of these? buffalo makes a nice 320 gig one for 200 bucks that will also stream movies/music. im looking to buy one since the old PC that i turned into a NAS dies whenever we lose power. the HDD shits the bed and i have to reinstall everything. so its no longer a good way to backup data!

Havent got one but i know that it works as an iTunes music server so you can access your media files through iTunes as if they were stored locally, of course thats if you use iTunes!

Seagate has nice solutions for CHEAP! Their new FreeAgent external drives are competatively priced and very reliable, and also loaded with space!

yea but i want something that is separate from my main rig. that is the point of a NAS. you can access it via ftp/samba/web and it backs everything up whenever you schedule it too. it is its own unit.

I've been using my old discarded rigs, loaded with harddrives for network storage. Even a 233MMX will serve up files just fine. The freebie option ;)

that is what ive been using and its no longer a reliable option so im going another route.
