I believe all2toavi can do it. But why do you want to convert to avi?

Depends on the codecs he has installed. It doesn't play nice with some codecs and splitters, without some additional tweaking, that is.

That argument goes no matter what program you use, you'll need the right codecs. Just get the Matroska codec and convert at will

Windows Movie Maker is a pile of $%^&+
I've used it before and at like 21% it just randomly stops saving the movie

That's funny, I've never had a problem with Windows Movie Maker.
But then again, I took classes. And I aced a video editing course, so... I might just know how to use it better

Theoretically, you should be able to import the two clips into a movie editor, and then render a giganto movie afterwords.

Lol, i was a first timer to movie maker, learnt how to use it myself (not even a tutorial), and i have not had any problems with it, besides the random crash or two

Usually I use MovieJoiner for my .avi movies but this one I got was compressed with the x264 codec, and hence isn't .avi

Lol, one or two crashes?
Thats pretty good IMO. Btw, that was with the first movie maker. Since ive used it in SP2 and Vista, i havent had one crash

On XP my movie maker crashed like every few minutes. Had to keep saving my projects in case it blew up again.
And on Vista?? Well... I just don't use it.

Wow that sucks. What codec pack were u using? (The DivX codec pack SUCKS on Vista....the Vista codec pack is a lot better
)

mkv files are very nice, i wish my pvr supported them. MKV can support multi language and subtitles on or off,
I had downloaded Gundam wing endless walts and i used to convert it to avi, i used jet audio pro. i think it can merge files also,

If I could join the 2 .mkv's it came in, I could convert them to DVD.
MovieJoiner says it supports .mkv but the stupid thing doesn't seem to want to work

well, i am not 100% sure,
i would say go torrent it and try it and see, it's a nice program imho and i use it a lot, but not to convert mkv files. I have only used it 2 times for that, but i want to say it had the option of merging two files

You're trying to convert to DVD, Cash? convertxtodvd will do mkv files, but you have to remove the subs from the mkv with mkvtoolnix and mkv wizard (wizard is just a GUI for toolnix), then you can just manually add the subs in convertxtodvd. Convertxtodvd also joins the movies together by default, just like a chapter break. I have a few tips and tricks, as I convert a good bit of Anime to DVD and such. PM me if you need help.
Oh, and I suggest sticking with the CCCP. It's much less likely to have conflicts than the Vista Codec Pack.

Won't help him convert to DVD tho. lol And if you watch any fan-subbed anime, it doesn't display certain formats of subtitles properly.VLC media player

Don't get me wrong tho, it's a great player. I still use it a lot myself. It's just not for everything or everyone.
