I've semi-skimmed through the post and there aren't any other problems that stick out at me... so again, good job on the article :D

Thanks for your support! It's much appreciated. :toast:

Excellent article. Is there now an updated version for the Orthos and Prime for vista users? I know CPUZ still works under vista, just wondering about the others.

And would Dust filters be a good iede to mention on the Fans, to reduce the cleaning side, they are now so good that they do not affect the CFM of the intakes.

Just a thought.

Again though your article is VERY informative, and should be a sticky.

I've never had a problem with Orthos under Vista (at least 32 bit), hell I've never even had to allow it to run, it's always been a flawless operation using orthos under vista. Prime I don't really use anymore because Orthos is easier to use since it can run 2 instances in one program. I may venture into a little more depth, but ATM I don't have time, I'm getting ready to spend a week in Vegas and so I might not do too much until I return, so keep the ideas coming!

Good point on dust filters, I have them on my PC (I use the Spider Fan/Filter combo 80mm for front intakes, got em' from Xoxide), I will add that to my cooling section, thank you.

Keep checking back and if you have any more suggestions, please do list them. Thanks for your support and interest.

That's a good way to go about it, read all that you can, understand what you can do with what you have, and start slow and easy. Once you get confident, you'll be OC-ing like the rest of us! Keep us posted when you do start OC-ing, we'll be more than happy to give you any help or suggestions needed! :toast:

Added a small bit about PC Fan Filters, and a link to a Fan/Filter combo that I have and still do use(d) that work very well. I may expand that section later. Added little bits here and there, enough to justify a .01 version increase. Thanks for everyone's support!

Could you add either a clockgen guide for newbies or link this into your guide; for people who have no options ion the BIOS, or have laptops.

I'll do it right now, I'll start it as a link, it may expand into a section later on if you want to be a section, though with the primary post and the mass pages of help and info, it would be one helluva job to go through all of it and re-sort it all into a new revised Laptop OC section, but that would be really cool. I think for now I'll just add a link, since your Laptop thread is so successful and full of so much info, I wouldn't want to compete with it. If I were to add a laptop section, I may have to look to you for creating it as I do not deal much with laptops.

Thanks for adding the link Kursah. And of course I would help if any aid was needed on the laptop oc guide front.

N/P dude, it's a worthy link, I can't believe I didn't add it! :banghead:

As far as adding a section for Laptop OC, that I will leave up to you, if you want my guide to have that section, I will depend upon you to provide me with a guide of your creation. :D I don't want to copy and paste what you already have created, that would be rude of me to do and it's unique to your thread. If you feel that having it would better my guide, then by all means let's do it! But since that's your field, I think it would be best left to your creation, I would be more than happy to add anything you type up for me. I will be available until tomorrow, when I fly out of town for a week. I may be able to find a PC to check up on TPU though. And if you want I can send you a txt version of this thread, just give me the word and it's yours to edit/add to, I trust you and have no worries that anything you add would only better this guide! :toast:

I added a little tid-bit in the Stability section on PCI-e Bus Speeds, I am still looking into people increasing their bus beyond 120MHZ and what becomes of it. I am thinking of starting a new thread dedicated to verifying and testing this "theory" as I still consider it. I have talked to 3 different people whom have been perfectly stable and attained better performance over 120, (they were between 140 and 150MHz), one of them was using an SATA HDD also. I will also test this on my PC next week when my G.Skill Ram arrives and I am back from Vegas. :rockout:

I will try an create a more tidy, consise and ordered guide for you to add. As you say mine is unique to the thread because it changed due to questions posted, thus not all of would be relevant to your guide. I doubt I will be able to write it for tomorrow (too much work to do). Hopefully I'll e-mail it to you when you return.

The OCCT programe has test for stability and it takes a half an hour to perform. On the end you also get all the critical graphs. It helped me a lot.

You really did help me a lot with this article and I'm sure many others too. Like somebody said, it should be a home page! Great work!

Woot! I know you've been quite busy! I'm looking forward to your guides and support! How'd the padawon thing end up? Haven't heard much of it as of late.

Thanks to everyone for their support, and keep this place in mind for future browsing for more updates! Between Theonetruewill, Ketxxx, Myself and you the readers' support, this will be a very worthy thread that will hopefully help many learn and understand! :toast:

It's got useful info on older hardware, and is a nicely laid out thread. Definately worth keeping up. And you have a point about the basics being the same, our explanations and layouts are differently based, your's also has technical information where I decided to explain it or like V-Mods not support it as I'm trying to help less experienced users who know less, where-as yours is better for those that have a clue what they're doing, which is great. So get your's updated STAT! How's that for motivation?

Mind if I add it to my links?

Add away. that was why i posted it. ;)

I intended it as more of a technical article, yes. More so the "why overclocking works" kinda thing.

Knowing how the overclocking works, is what gives you better overclocking abilitys, and better ability to troubleshoot a problem. :)

Thanks, I'll add it ASAP. :rockout:

It's great on the technical side, I like how you've made it, and hopefully you'll update it for newer hardware/specs because I think it would be a great reference for many to keep on favorites/tab, I look forward to reading your updates. Kickass work! :toast:

I can update the AMD stuff probably, but I've only got partial experience with an overclocker style core 2 duo so it would be mostly guess work for me

Well I have my Core 2/P5B setup, I will help you with as much as I can provide at least for P965 based OC-ing. I'm sure others with P975's, 690's, P35's, etc will also give you some suggestions/help.

Just thought I'd let everyone know there's been a fairly large update to the guide! I've done some re-arranging of articles, edited some tidbits, and added a decent sized section for Laptop/Limited Bios users thanks to the donation from Theonetruewill! Check it out, I feel the guide is getting closer to attaining greatness!

And as always, if anyone thinks something should be added or wants to add an article themselves, please contact me and we'll get things set-up and sorted out! Again, thanks Theonetruewill, your addition to the guide is valuable!

Well I am pondering some more additions to the guide, it seems there have been about 100 views since I updated the guide last night, and for me that's good enough! I want your input/suggestions! At this point a good chunk of the guide was only made possible because of your input and suggestions, this guide is a culmination of TPU user minds, and I plan on keeping it that way!

I was thinking of adding a section for the more popular OC/Stability/Monitoring programs, but I have the link the a thread that lists many already. And many programs are fairly easy to learn and use, but it could be helpful to some. Let me know if that's worth adding!

I am planning on increasing the size of the research section, even though researching is emphasized throughout the guide, the section based on it could be a little more helpful instead of suggestive in my opinion, what do you think?

I am also considering a menu to relieve the ammount of scrolling required, but I am not as fluent in HTML as I once was, so if anyone can give me pointers to making links set at different topics, that would be great! I may have to go check out the webmaster section and see what I can find, but I figured since I was posting for your input that I'd throw this in to see if I could get a quick and easy answer!

Again, I want to thank everyone who views this guide, and those who have given me their input and suggestions! Please keep it coming, I want to hear more, good/bad/indifferent about this guide. And if you don't wanna tell me for some reason, you could always rate this guide thread! :toast:
