Any chance of a "console" section?....

I was wondering if TPU may benefit from a "Console" section? Far be it from me to think that TPU could be made better in any kind of way (the beloved TPU is perfect as it is) but I thought it may be a good idea :)

Most of us PC Tech/PC Gaming nuts own a console too (I have a 360 and a Wii, lol) and I suppose these 'Next-Gen' consoles do fall into some kind of 'Tech' area (as they basically are gaming only PCs) so why not have an area where we can chat about them and the current good/bad games on each platform??

Like I said, just a suggestion, you never know, it could be ok :D

It's not an illogical or irrational idea, given that we have miscellaneous and general chat subforums.

However, from a technical and hardware standpoint, the 360 and ps3 fell flat on their face in comparison to what they could have been.

From a marketing and hype standpoint, it's a slap in the face period.

Taking either angle will yield the same result, that people are weary of believing the next consoles are going to do what these consoles promised to do.

Looking at the hardware we have currently for PC, as well as those coming out within just this year, consoles have been dwarfed yet again, and now computing hardware is becoming exponential in it's application. It may be a long time until consoles recover.

I don't mind a sub forum to shoot the *(** on consoles, sure why not!?
Yet, because of what I mentioned above, it will probably wear thing fairly quickly, like a cheap novelty.
Also consider that the console forums you do see, don't have the depth or even close to the depth TPU has regarding hardware/software, so it may be a bit of a struggle juggle for TPU to put together that kinda database for consoles; if they don't, then it may be deemed pointless.

You make some good points....no console will ever live upto what a PC 'can' be. I havent even played on the PS3, but Im still becoming more and more impressed with the 360. I was playing a game called 'The Darkness' earlier and I was blown away be its sheer quality (gameplay wise and graphically) I think the graphics on some/most games on the 360 are equivalent to that of an highend graphics card (ie Gears Of War), and the visuals on the 360 are ever improving ;)

We will always have the gaming PC Vs console debate, but the 2 fields are different.

Thanx for your comments btw :)

I get what your saying m8, and I think you could be right. But maybe if it was no trouble to the site admins (ie W1zzard) maybe it would be worthy of a trial :)

I can write reviews for PC games when I buy them. Which probably wouldn't happen very often since I don't have the funds to buy $50 games on a regular basis. However, I could contribute when I'm able.

Hmm.

Not a bad idea.

I dont think a "console" forum would do great, because theres simply not much to be talked about. Games. and flame wars about why the ps3 sucks so bad. (haha cheap one! booyah.)

PC game reviews could be kinda cool.

Console game reviews are quite over done imo.

and to have a decent following we'd have to pick up some pretty heavy review content.

PC games are relevant to all visitors.

I actually wish I could overclock my 360. lol

But aside from that, I think a Console Gaming section would be nice, even if it was a sub-forum of Gaming. It would mean less clutter in the Gaming section.

there were overclocked original xboxes http://www.xbox-scene.com/hardware/dreamx.php (well, it was actually a different processor, and ram upgrade), but being an ibm chip i doubt well see it possible again, if only microsoft had signed a 2 console deal with intel and used socket 775 this time...

Thats right, it was a waste of time really....all it improved was the running of 'emulators' on a modified XBOX (as some emulated games needed more RAM to be able to run)
