I used it on my x1900xtx and I hated it. The accelero was much quieter then the stock cooler but my temps went up and I didnt think it was worth it.

Stock cooler + atitool to adjust the fan speed works pretty good.

My thougths are this, great cooler if the case is well ventillated, but the coller exausts directly at the mobo. So if you dont have great airflow in the case, personally I'd get a diff. cooler! I had the VF900 on my PRO and it never went above 55*C.

Not necessarily... want me to grab a few pages worth of info? Anyway VF900CU is MUCH more expensive... the Accelero is cheaper somewhat and uses the onboard 3-pin.

Thermaltake cases + AcceleroX2 = bad btw. Reason? Their intakes do nothing. You will need an intake that actually moves air for the AcceleroX2 to shine. If you do go ahead with it. I would take it a step further and remove the rear covers

lower heat output on the Sapphire mate... and considering you have a crappy case no wonder you werent impressed...

Not something Id personally recommend. The VF900 is a good choice as well as a few others over there at the egg.

I love my X2, it does a great job of keeping my card cool and with any vid card cooler, the better airflow you give it the better it performs. I hit about 36c idle and 53c load at OC'd levels, fan at 100% (bios modded). Plus the fan at full speed isn't very noticable, which is a damn good plus!

I don't have too much for airflow to the cooler, I have the VGA vent on the side and the next two slots below the card open on the back of the case. That was good for about 2-4C drop in temps on load and 1-2c idle. My biggest complaint is that they designed the cooler to blow hot air directly on the PCIe slot, but it hasn't caused any problems thus far! I do recommend this cooler, as it does well and has treated me very well. I also like the Zalman, I think both are good, and to me it comes down to price because they both pretty much perform the same. Too many people argue between the two coolers, when from what I've read and seen they are very close in performance. So find the cheapest price on one of these and go for it!

You won't find a better cooler for $20. I had the X2 on my X1800XT, and at first, it didn't lower temps at all, but it was silent. After I added a couple of case fans, and BIOS modded my card for 100% fan, it showed drastic improvements, and was still silent. Was able to overclock to 715/850 at the same temps as stock (625/750ish). Once I moved over to my Stacker, the temps dropped a couple of more degrees.

The others are right when saying that you need good case airflow for it, the more you have, the happier the X2 is.

It really depends on two factors. The TDP of the GPU you plan to put it on, and the case it will be running in.

The AccelroX-2 works better than the vf-900 on high TDP chips, while the vf-900 starts scoring better on lower TDP GPUs. On my cooler x1950pro, the vf-900 was the better, yet more expensive choice. I'm very happy with it.

Now TK, please correct me if I'm wrong, but the x1950gt is based on the rv570 core which is completely missing a quad. Despite the 90nm process, I believe this would mean the TDP would be lower and therefore respond better to the vf-900.

The other issue is the case, the AccelroX-2 responds better to a good supply of fresh air, so if your case has an intake fan in that general area you may see better results.

In the end though it comes down to expense. The AccelroX-2 is much less expensive, so if cost matters that's the way to go.

Go for the VF 900 Hookey. If you have decent airflow this is a great cooler.
And it looks way better then the Arctic imo.

Thanks for all your input guys ;)

The airflow in my case is as follows:

1x 120mm front fan sucking air in.

1x 80mm side fan sucking air in (directly mounted in the center of the window).

1x 80mm rear fan sucking air out.

1x 120mm PSU fan sucking air up into the PSU and out of the rear.

and soon to be:

1x Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, with 92mm fan blowing air towards the rear of the case.

So do you think my airflow will be :rockout: or :(

PS: I was only going for the Accelero X2 because of the nice price

whats wrong with the x2? i have one on an x1800xl and an x1900xt, and its fine for both. Temps are a good 15-25C lower than stock, and its whisper quiet compared to the roaring noise.

The only concern is definately your case - as its a tall cooler, it can hit fans/fan clips on case side panels. VF-900 is a better cooler, but far more expensive. Also, double check the model - some acceleros dont fit the 1950GT cards (my GT 512 has 6 screw holes, the accelero/other cards have 7 - so theres a metal post with nowhere to go)

Hookey i was not saying the AC2 is bad. It's still a very good cooler. And price wise there is no other that beats it. So if you are on a budget the AC2 is the cooler for you.
Personaly i like the Zalman better. But that comes down to taste. Btw your airflow is good imo.:toast:

Don't even bother, i got an X2 for my X1900XT and i didn't like it much at all. Admittedly, it kept the GPU a couple degrees cooler, but the Vregs were a lot hotter than the stock cooler. The X1900XT stock cooler is hideously noisy, but im happy to pay the price for a much cooler card. The X2's fan isn't that strong, so you'll be running it at 100% constantly, just to keep up with the stock cooler's capabilities. Luckily it is quiet, which is the big bonus.

Personally, i'd just save a bit more $ and invest in the Zalman or something else. Alternatively, stick with the stock cooler, it's good! (Noise aside...)

I have an X2, it's cheap, quiet, dropped my temps a good 10*c idle, and about 10-15 load. My VREG temps have gone up, but considering that I'm now able to put more voltage through reliably, and get a higher overclock, and the VREGs never go above about 65-70, then I'm not worried.
The stock cooler was a signle slot design, heavy, really heavy, but with one loud ass fan. To have it overclock to 600/666, I had to have the fan at 100%, which was just too loud for my liking. I now have my fan at 100%, and have reached near enough 700/700, and can use 1.4V reliably.
Case airflow is important, but you've got enough, it's mostly intake that really affects it. Bad intake fan, not enough cool air coming in, can really hinder the X2. It's what happenned with my new case, I used an old 80mm fan, airflow went down dramatically. Once I had my new fans, airflow increased again, and the X2 performed much better.

Thats looks pretty nice, any word on how quiet it is?

Yes it's quiet. Again, not as quiet as the VF900 Cu but it requires less fan speed than the X2 as it's in essence a supereior cooler so runs at about the same noise levels. I have heard good things about these coolers. Let's put it this way; if I wasn't getting a X1900Gt with the IceQ3 then I would have got it.

Hookey i've told other people the same thing if you get a pci fan under the card to suck out the hot air they work great!!!I had a X1800xt with that cooler and a pci fan under it they worked great with the x2@100%.

I think you'll be fine with the accelero x2... I could see if you wanted max oc out of your card but it does not seem that way.. my it dropped my temps down hugely but I was useing a 1900gt rev.1 and the stock cooler was the crappy one from ATI. I believe I've read that the acelero is on par or better than the stock cooler of a 1900xtx.. some people on here were saying that it does not cool the voltage regs down enough, might be the case for you your regs run hotter than mine stock I think.

well hope that helps you a bit :p might of cluster fucked you at the end.. I hope your rear 80mm fan is fairly strong I can feel heat out the back of my case when gamming with my 120mm rear and low speed 80mm top. The Thermaltake similar to the acellero x2 performed better but was a bit more noisey than the x2.. theres a review of it in the fourms ;P.
