ok i started getting artifacts in game (couloured lines)with my new 8600gts, i uninstalled drivers used driver cleaner etc and reinstalled latest forceware drivers and its no better, i havent oc'd it much so i know its not down to this and im pretty sure it is faulty and not a software issue. so i raised an rma and ordered a x1950xt instead as i cant be bothered to wait for the rma return time etc,

but now its not artifacting, im thinking its down to overheating but am just worried now if they dont pick up any problems with it i might not get my refund :banghead:

should i just take the mem upto the max on riva tuner just to make sure it is 100% faulty lol
my wife will kill me if i dont get my £ as ive already ordered the x1950xt :wtf:

ok i defo know the card is faulty as it happens after about 2-3 hours gameplay start getting multi coloured lines on my screen, im just worried when i send it back to ebuyer they wont test it that thouroughly and say theres nothing wrong with it. (already ordered x1950xt )

as far as the couloured lines thats memory as iirc is there a way i can make the fault more obvious ? ie: overclock the mem insanely like to 2000 so when they test it they will see its faulty otherwise i cant see someone from ebuyer playing 3 hours of f.e.a.r to test it properly and thats only when i get artifacts :banghead:

First tell them to test it for an extended period of time. Secondly I don't see why you shouldn't ensure it's faulty - as it was faulty in the first place.

A video card isn't made to work for one or 2 hours and have to be switched off in order to function correctly but is supposed to be ok to function 24/7. Tell them that you game for hours at a stretch so they'd test it accordingly, even though they're supposed to test it so without you telling them.

I'm sure your card's faulty too - I've got the 8600GTS - Point of View brand as well. I've played Oblivion for more than 6 hours at a stretch, it gave me no problems and neither should yours.

Coming to think of it, look at my rig, cpu, oc, mobo in the system specs.... they're identical to yours lol...

could be PSU problem too. When I had my new GFX I was running it with an 400W PSU and about half an hour of gameplay, the card would just shut itself down. New PSU fixed the problem. I think when u RMA something, The company, will happily just send u a new 1, instead of getting into the hassle of returning the card, and have angry customers. The card itself costs the company no more that 50 euros, to make.
