just an idea here, along with a game review maybe mention any good mods for the game aswell? or include them in the review, especially if it improves the game to make worth buying,

I suggest not putting any hardware part reviews there. Also if you are not going backwards generation then you could just put PC/WII/XBOX360/PS3. Other consoles will be avoided though. You could also add some game guides for SOME famous games like BIOSHOCK or Oblivion. I would suggest a drop-down form box named GAMES which shows
(Whatever order you want.)

The front page should work a little like Techpowerup, except with gaming related news instead of hardware. I don't know how much bandwidth and storage you want to pay for, but maybe you could host game patches and popular mods in the download section?

I like the idea of separate buttons up at the top for each system (PC, Wii, PS3, etc) and, of course, a forums button. That way people can see right away where they need to go. Once they're at a specific system's page they can see a list of reviewed games and other affiliated information.

Btw no hardware prices but Game prices. The articals can be changed to game tweakings like Oblivion.ini (NO downloads or anything. But probably a linky to download those EXTRA features to improve gameplay/graphics.)

Same opinion here, I personally think they'd look a little better side by side. Still, nice to see some good progress W1zz.

Edit: I also think that having loads of game patches available for download would be great provided that you can cover the bandwidth requirements W1zz, and I reckon it would be best to keep gaming news and main site news completely separate. But generally speaking it's sounding pretty cool.

Edit2: and the hardware reviews thing would be great if you could use it for the games as well. Being able to quickly browse through the latest game reviews at the top of the main page would be brilliant.

mixing all the content would make it hard for people to find the info they need.

the new name clearly suggests that this is game related while living off the techpowerup brand, which comes in handy when talking to game companies.

considering future growth it should also make things much easier from the administrative side because gpu is independent of tpu.

I agree m8. As the TPU name is getting more recognition, you will be able to use this to your advantage when trying to get some 'tester' games from the gaming companies :rockout:

So when will GPU be going 'live' m8? (I have no idea how long this sort of thing takes to come together :eek:

this year. need to come up with a site design and review methodology - for this i'd like to ask for your help in form of feedback and ideas.

do you think we should clone the TPU downloads section? since most games/demos/patches/drivers/utilities are already there. it would significantly decrease administrative overhead

it will be nice if you could filter the games out easily, like find every fps game on pc and stuff
but i think a good way to sort out the games would be something like this

console>genre>game

and each game should have tags on them which indicate their genre, year, console and etc. That way we can filter the list of games

Yeah, like the downloads section, click the + next to the Console, choose the console, choose the genre, then game. Straight to the reviews, or hardware.

Yeah, the downloads section is fine as it is, a clone would be fine. Just as long as we have more patches.

I think the overall design should be the same as TPU , but different coloured forums so you can easily distinguish between the two. Not sure if I like the idea of mimicking the downloads section for reviews and everything, it seems a little too basic. Definitely divide them into different catagories, but I think links are better than a list with + symbols because that would end up getting insanely long, whereas if you have different options to chose from you can have the 10 most recent appearing on a page and browse through the rest. I think Gamespot's system works nicely, so something similar to that maybe?
