EBay is known for selling all sorts of interesting goodies. Among them are tickets to the Led Zeppelin reunion show. When Led Zeppelin promotor Harvey Goldstein heard about this, he tried to get eBay to stop selling these tickets. According to Goldstein, eBay "basically told us to **** off". And so, in response to this, Goldstein vowed to seriously mess with the lives of the people selling these tickets on eBay. Goldstein plans on messing up the lives of these people by declaring the tickets purchased off eBay null and void, which will cause a nightmare for a lot of hardcore Led Zeppelin fans. Checking whether or not a ticket was purchased off eBay is surprisingly easy, all they have to do at the box office is deny entry to anyone who bought the ticket with a different credit card than they have. The Led Zeppelin Reunion show will take place on November 26 at London's 02 Arena.

Im sure a band has its reasons, like people making excessive profits of tickets. The band does has the right to tell who can and who can not sell tickets, thus they have full rights not to admit people who bought tickets on ebay. I think this is perfectly fair. Plus, there are many scams on ebay now days, thus, you have very high chances of fake tickets being sold.

meh even if someone buys 100 tickets to sell on ebay they still have sold them.. overall I think this is more to make sure they fill the house.. prob some major price gouging and maybe even fake tickets to complicate things even further.

So you buy a ticket, can't go in the end, sell it on eBay, and then they can that ticket....what a bunch of a-holes.

I wonder how much on of their tickets is to start with 300 or more?

What are you smoking? The Event Managers have sold the tickets and collected their money. From which, the band members will get a few cents. So the Event Managers collect their money, and the band collects their money, BUT you think the people that paid SHOULD BE DENIED ENTRY? What you are admitting to is that you think RESELLING an item, or even giving it away as a "gift", is unfair, even though it is new and unused. (Significantly different from MS EULA which just limits your ability to reuse the item AFTER you used it once already).

Well I truely hope one day, you receive a nice big expensive gift from your daddy, and then you are denied entry because it is not "your" credit card. And your daddy's money is lost. And your time is wasted. I hate to wish this on you, but the greater benefit is to your education. And therefore you could describe it money well spent. Better than some college degrees even.

(P.S. This is nothing personal at you, just personal at anybody that thinks the way you described).

Can you imagine a world where ANYTHING "second hand" was illegal? Wow. Big American Corporates would LOVE that. Just image, reselling becoming an illegal activity. You could only buy "new" and only from selected vendors linked directly to the manufacturer.

I feel sorry for the people who got their ticket as a birthday present. I doubt they have the credit card it was originally purchased with. There must be a loop hole for these people?

Harvey Goldstein is giving Led Zeppelin a bad name. I bet the band is pretty upset that their fans are getting *screwed* over and treated with disrespect.

I think Goldstein needs to make a public apology, and I think a lawyer should look into Goldstein publically announcing his intention to "take punters money" and then deny them the product/service they bought. That's either theft, or fraud, or both. That's a criminal act. With intent. Put him in jail.

He's a scam.

So you will have to bring a credit card with you to the concert?
Since reselling something you purchased is not illegal, I think I will call BS on this one.
Sounds more like a empty threat.

i think with regard to tickets you would call that scalping and that is illegal and if they put terms and conditions with regard to making resale invalidate the ticket would also be quite legal to do.

I'm with ebay on this one http://pages.ebay.com/buyselltickets/faq.html

Who benefits from the rule "no resale" of an already sold and paid for ticket? And who loses? OK, now that that is clear, "terms and restructions against resale" should be made illegal. Reselling should NOT be restricted (except for trade embargoes on technological products to restricted political regimes, etc.). Not for Joe Public retail products. That's a scam by the event organisers.

Just as event organisers ALSO hold back the "cheap seats" until the last minutes, and only the "expensive seats" are available in advance. That's a scam too.

i agree with him i hate the fact that concert tickets sell out in like 5 min now for big shows because all these assholes buy them up and sell them for 3x the price on ebay.
then i cant get any tickets because i don't have the 300$ that they want for a ticket that was only supposed to cost 40$

Exactly.

Tickets get sold no matter what, who, where they are sold. Thus by selling them on ebay, it doesnt increase sales in any way.

If i dont want you selling and or reseling tickets to my b-day party, then i reserve the right to do so and not admit people who bought them on ebay.

A gift on the other hand has nothing to do with this subject what so ever. Some of you need to learn the difference and how each one works before posting utter crap.

Once again, for the small minded.

If you own the product, produce it, thus you can dictate who can sell it and who can not, and you can dictate if it can be resold or not. It is your product that you make, thus you make rules what can be dont with it, as long as it is not for illegal purpose. It is not illegal in any way and never will be.

If i dont want you at my b-day party eating my cake, then you not getting in, unless you abide by my rules and buy the ticket only at designated reseller approved by me. It is with in my legal rights.

Once again, learn the law.

It's simple supply and demand. Led Zepplin is a HUGE band... I mean do you really expect people to get their tickets for 40$ to see Led Zepplin, or are just speaking in general terms? I would personally pay 300$ to see Led Zepplin, but not in London.

Secondly I fully agree with eBay tickets, because the only time I'm going to use ebay to buy tickets is when the concert is sold out venue wise. At that point, I will go to ebay and look for tickets!

Anyone who says ebay should drop dead and die is plain stupid imho.

Sounds to me like Led Zepplin wants these people there, they just don't want certain people to be making 300$ on a $40 ticket. Why? I think it's because Led Zepplin wants the money, and so does their publisher. Greed.
