Requirements for Next Version of 3DMark Confirmed

The 3DMark series is one of the most popular set of benchmarking tools in the world of computer enthusiasts. 3DMark Next, or so it will be called, is the official successor to 3DMark06. Unfortunately for a lot of enthusiasts, 3DMark Next will be Windows Vista and SM4 exclusive, which will almost certainly speed up the adoption of both on enthusiast computers. And now, without further ado, the system requirements (and the recommended system requirements).

3DMark Next System Requirements:

x86/x64 single core CPU with SSE2 support. Performance similar to Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz or better.

Fully D3D10/SM4.0 compliant graphics card, 256 MB

1024 MB RAM

2 GB Free Disk Space

Windows Vista (Server editions not supported)

3DMark Next Recommended System Requirements:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or equivalent AMD CPU.

Fully D3D10/SM4.0 compliant graphics card, 512 MB

2048 MB RAM

2 GB Free Disk Space

Windows Vista (Server editions not supported)

I would agree with Ketxxx... I am still not going to buy Vista for a while yet. Besides, the only video card I have that could run this is my HD2600Pro, and it would rank near the bottom of the pack. I will continue benchmarking with 3DMark06 for another year or so.

One good thing about Futuremark... you can always count on them giving the current and future video cards a serious test. :toast:

I'm with Ketxxx, not upgrading for awhile until I see the benchies for ATI's next cards.

But if you want to have the bragging right with your nerd friends that you can use "Next", then you have to buy Vista.

yeah, next signals to me something entirely different. Also, as a benchmarking tool, the recommend specs are waaay too high. There should be no recommended specs.

You need recommended specs so they dont get sued for false advertisement.
Other wise people will expect it to run on a iPhone or Atari. Yes, there are people that are that dumb out there.

No ones making you buy anything, if you don't like Vista nor Dx10 then that's your choice.
But don't slag them off just because they are bring out some thing new(and free). Dx10 and Vista is the road we are going if you like it or not.

Well said judas. Whenever I have to work on a computer that runs XP or GASP :eek:

Windows 95 (and anything in between as well) It just feels so wrong the way they have everything setup. Sure you can still work and operate on any older OS out there but there are multiple time saving features in Vista. But back on subject I think I will download this once I actually start building my desktop computer this Spring cant wait till Spring 08 :respect:
