Yup... Check out the zotac review on here... W1zz did it and included a generic 8800gt scores... Its cheaper too. :)

It beats the 640mb in most tests and really shines at the higher resolutions..

If you own a GTX.. sell it and buy 2 gt's... that is what I would do. I am interested to see if the price of the GTX comes down at all in the next 2 or so weeks

How is it possible that a cheaper card is more powerful than the expensive ones? Surely nVIDIA knows which one is better and would price accordingly?

The 8800 GT is the first of the new generation cards. The high end cards have yet to be refreshed. That aside, the 8800 GTS 640 MB is better at higher resolutions than the 8800 GT in DX10 applications. The Zotac review has no DX10 results which is odd. Anyway, the 256 bit memory bottlenecks the 8800 GT at 1920x1200 and greater resolutions.

Now, if you had $500 in your pocket, and needed a new video solution, a couple of the 8800 GT cards in SLI would rule as long as you did not have a 24 inch LCD or bigger.

My only frustration is that in all the reviews, the GTX is at 575 and the Ultra at 612 on the core. Most current products are much higher. So, I would take the Ultra results as the defacto GTX result when comparing any results. And, even at that, it can be a little low.

I take it you guys all missed the review which showed the GTX outperforming the GT at higher resolutions? And at no stage does it outperform the GTX...it is on par with the GTX but it does not outperform it.

Aye Nova, and depending on where the prices fall with the new GTS, the better question will be whether to go with the GTX or get a new GTS. I don't see the GT making waves like the hype suggests, but for newcomers to the DX10 arena, it might be a sweet deal.

It's a really sweet deal for anyone, IMO. Especially if prices drop to the $200-area. I think GTX is right out, as a card for half its price get really close to it and consumes less power. I'm really interested too in what the GTS will be like, but until then the GT is the king of the day IMO. :)

Erm...but it's cheaper than the GTX, and there are no where near as many people who game at high-resolutions as you think. I'm still at 1280x1024. The GT at the moment is an amazing deal.

I can't wait to see the rest of the refreshes.

nVidia is riding on the wave of 8800-serie's success. That's the only reason G92GT is called as it is.

i just checked on the gpureview.com and found that the GT has lesser Memory Bandwidth, Shader Operations, Pixel Fill Rate, Shader Processors, Texture Units, and Raster Operation (whatever that means). But about the Core Clock and Memory Clock it has higher than the GTX. Probably it can over clock much higher than the GTX... well that makes sense it can be faster and way cheaper than the GTX. Anyway, can the GT set in SLi with the GTS?
