x1950pro is a bit faster but requires much more power and makes a lot more heat, wont do dx10, and honestly I think with the same settings my 2600xt looks better then my 1950pro did...

Nice thing to the pro is if you run large resolutions, above 1280x1024 or really like to use AA/AF

No need to be surprised.
Just compare the specs of those cards.

Benchmark Scores nah
i would prefer a 2600 because of the uvd and the dx 10 even if is is a lot slower (plus what niko says power/heat/noise/)

cool ya i figured the shader processors would keep the 2600 up with the other but im lookin for overall performace i dont need dx10 this pc wont see vista ever even if it does not for gaming im just trying to max it out cause i have my proc scoring crazy oc'in for a 130um i really didnt expect to hit 2.75 on air espically at 48-56c load depending on apps and room temp

Just to toss this in, I can show very truthful benchmarks that shot the 2600xt beating up the 1950pro pretty decent too....

In "REALITY" without AA/AF or high resolution they run one with another.

I have had both, and have my 1950xt's also.

I would say that the x1950xt from gecube is defo the fastest AGP card around.

It just depends on what you want.

High resolution gaming with AA/AF = X1950 PRO.

Gaming at 1280x1024 or less with no/little AA/AF = 2600 (Due to the less heat/power and more features, not because its faster, as they perform around the same).

Although, if the computer is never going to see vista, and you have a decent PSU, id say X1950 PRO or XT over the 2600.

You´re not talking about synth benchmarks, do you? ;)

I mean, just scroll through those 33 game benchmarks on THG and you´ll find 1 (in a word: ONE) single result where the HD2600 XT outperforms the X1950 Pro: Warhammer @1024x768 with no AA/AF.

Don´t get owned by hardware industries´ hype machinery (DDR-3 etc.). :toast:

A bit? You mean 150% more faster in some games? The HD2600PRO is NOT a replacement of the X1950PRO whatsoever. Even the HD2600XT, it comes nowhere near a X1950PRO in terms of performance. Yes at probably 640x480, but who on earth games at that resolution for older games anyway? Furthermore, the HD2600s are very weak once you turn up AA/AF, as well as the resolution.

HD2600s dont get close to a X1950PRO at 1280x1024... Even if the HD2600XT can perform in DX10, it will do it in a speed that is unplayable, so I wouldn't use Direct X10 as a reason for buying it.

Overall the X1950PRO will satisfy you more, with the mature drivers which have seemingly maxed out the performance of the card.
