Gigabyte Debuts Three AMD 790FX Based Motherboards

Motherboard maker Gigabyte unveiled the specifications of three new motherboards with the AMD 790FX chipset. The GA-MA790X-DS4, GA-MA790X-DS5 and GA-MA790X-DQ6 all have support for AMD's upcoming AM2+ Phenom processors, 1066MHz DDR2 memory and PCI Express 2.0. The GA-MA790FX-DQ6 is the most advanced version. This motherboard uses a special cooling system with two heatpipes and features support for CrossFireX. The other two motherboards only support regular CrossFire. The boards will be available later this month.

Gigabyte HD2600Pro/XT cards that are well known for overheating. In crossfire with 4 cards these will probably blow at intensive 3d mode.

Too bad the memory slots are configured like that.

i like the placement of the slots, that way when you have a big ass cooler, the memory gets cooled as well. my 2 sticks of ddr2 800 fit under my blue orb and can be easily taken out, the orb cools the sticks a good bit :)

Full crossfire only req's 2 pcie slots. Quad crossfire req's 4 slots..



BTW has anyone even seen a quad crossfire setup before... :eek: I can't see how those 4 cards in that ^^ pic won't overheat in a second, and what is the point of having quad crossfire when you have to do it with mid range single slot cards... Surely 2 high end cards would be better. Non the less though it would be pretty wicked to give it a go.. :respect:

the new 3800's come single slot, so you can quad x-fire those. and nvidia's still working on a crappy thing of tri sli using dual slot coolers :laugh:
