Why does this happen? I'm still having problems keeping my system stable at stock speeds since I got my quad core, my computer specs are up to date.

Core clock rotates between 1600 x 6 & 2400 x 9. My case is open because my video card is seemingly too hot, but as I type it's at 60 degrees celsius with nothing but everest and explorer running.

My cpu is running at 67 celsius doing nothing as well, assuming everest is measuring in celsius, but I'm pretty sure it does.

I've got a cpu cooler coming (ultra 90) but this thing's obviously running hot, can only imagine what happens when I run 3dmark which I still can't get to complete because of system crash.

Here's what the everest report says.

Holy shit thats a long post... lol My finger is cramped up and I just wore out my scroll wheel..

67 degrees in windows in waaaaaaay to hot bro. Thats if everest is reading correctly!!

A couple of things to check I spose:

1. have you got the latest bios for your board.
2. Have you cleared the cmos and then set defaults in bios
3. Have you checked to see if your cooler is seated properly.
4. have you still got your old cpu, maybe you can throw it back in and see if it still f#$ks up..

Sounds simply like speedstep? ie when your CPU is hardly doing anything it clocks down to save power. It's perfectly normal. If you really want to turn it off look for enhanched speedstep or EIST in your BIOS.

Well, my bios failed to upgrade when I attempted it, I will attempt it again, I'm halfway praying it's a bios problem this sucker runs hot.

I just barely booted this machine and I'm at 65C on cpu core 1 56 on core 3. That all by itself makes no sense, why wouldn't they be equal or closer...

gpu is 57 at room temp.

I just got my ultra 90 and followed a guide on this forum. Recommendation for future owners, don't bother, I almost wiped the nickel plating off the thing starting with 1000 grit and moving to 1500 and then the compound. The machining doesn't go away, it's through the nickel core it seems, perhaps something to do with how the nickel plating is applied. It's shiny but not like the guy who posted the guide on lapping on this board

Anyway, going to try to fix the bios again and install the new heatsink, wish me luck though I'll probably post here with results before anyone reads this.

i would have to agree with dan the cpu bouncing back and forth sounds suspicously like the speedstep(i just went thru this also, i feel your pain) also to disable speedstep completly C1E also has to be disabled in your bios- the function may be hidden( as it was in my bios) hitting f4 in the advanced section might bring it up--varies by manufact. i believe, also resetting to defaults in bios sholuld help--especialy check the voltage on cpu-- my first 5 boots on this new board resulted in less then 1 min/then shutdowns due to overheating, initail startup settings had vcore waaaaay to high. hope this helps, get back to us -let us know whats happening:D
