looking for best AGP card for $50 or less

i have an old computer that the video card went out so i am looking for best AGP card for $50 or less to fix this guys computer. it has to be new, i wont use used chit in someone elses computer because i dont want call backs.

its a P4 2.8ghz with 450 watt psu and 1gb ram, the dead video card was a geforce fx5600 128mb.

what are the best choices out there that i can use?

the computer is for web surfing and very limited fps gaming but nothing like new games.

thanks zek, if it were me i would already have the check in the mail but its a customer.

i trust you but i would rather pay $50 for new out the box piece of mind if you know what i mean.

from what the egg is showing it looks like the two nvidia cards are my choices but which one? i have no experience with the 6000 series so i cant judge the better choice.

these two are what im looking at:

EVGA GeForce FX 5500 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP - $50 (has 1yr limited warranty)

or

XFX GeForce 6200 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 AGP - $50 (has Lifetime limited warranty)

GeForce 6 series has SM3 and DX9, while the GeForce 5 series is a sad excuse for a Radeon 9x00 competitor.

ok so i gues its these two for nvidia:

MSI NX6200-TD256H GeForce 6200LE 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 AGP - $40 (1yr limited warranty)

XFX GeForce 6200 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 AGP - $50 (Lifetime limited warranty)

or they have the ATI cards with 1yr limited warranty:

HIS Hightech H955H256-1TOAN Radeon 9550 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP - $40

HIS Hightech H925H256-1TOAN Radeon 9250 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP - $46

and it looks like a 9600 can be found at $55-$60 so thats an option maybe

I know you ruled out used. I do have a Flawless 256MB/256-bit 9800XT (w/Zalman ALCU VF700 LED) that would best all of those cards.

get the xfx 6200, it won't blow you away but it'll work and last well. I'm guessing they are passive cooled too, so no extra pc noise.

Get a 6200. However if gaming is a must, you will need a higher budget than $50.

ok so it appears with my limitations on price and the fact that it has to be a new agp card and not a used one, the popular opinion looks like i should go with the nvidia geforce 6200.

but now i need to know whats the difference between getting the 6200LE and the regular 6200?

whats the reason the 6200LE is cheaper? is the 6200LE a better or worse card then the 6200?

Ah, my lil 9600. It runs Halo, NWN, games of that era at decent quality. Most recently, I gave it a heart attack trying to run WiC at lowest settings. I was in the beta, very funny stuff. Slideshows!

don't know the exact difference between 6200LE and 6200 but usually the LE stands for 'Lite Edtion' or something like that and means it's a cut down version. Making it slighty worse than the 6200 and hence slightly cheaper, but they're both bottom end anyway!

thats what i was thinking the LE meant as well but i didnt want to just guess thats what it was so i was hoping someone knew for sure.

well remember this is an AGP motherboard i have and im doing an upgrade for $50 or less to replace a bad 128mb fx5600 so the cards i picked are an improvement over that fx5600 card right?

by the way, radion only goes up to the 9600 in AGP, they dont make AGP 9800's

here is a link from nvidia about the differences in the 6200 and the "LE" version. From the jest of it, it looks like you are right on being the "Lite Edition"

i myself had a sapphire 9600pro atlantis 256mb VERY decent card.

i remember scoring over 2000 pts in 3d05 with it.
