The ads at first were interesting, I'm neutral with them. They will not drive me to leave by any means, but will slightly hinder my TPU viewing experience. In the end, TPU is a profit organization, and if there can be profit from the ads placed in this forum that will help with the cost of upkeep (and possibly the creation of GPU
), then we should support it.
One suggestion would be not to have two ads (at least from what I've seen thus far) after the first post of each thread, one ad is fine, but two is annoying. I wouldn't mind one after the first post and one banner between the last post and Quick Reply though.
As for donations to TPU, that's not a bad idea in a sense, but in a way I don't believe that's necessarily a good way to show TPU support. In my eyes, supporting TPU is by helping others and creating a positive place for others to enjoy. If this site came to a subscription, then there better be more perks than just posting in a forum. I enjoy supporting, helping and learning here and have never enjoyed an online establishment like I have TPU, nor have I been a member of one for so long (aside from my own creations in the past). Sure a donation would be cool, but a subscription would not...that is just my opinion.
I'm proud of what I've done thus far on TPU, and I really do enjoy this place, a couple of ads won't be too shabby as long as they stay in context with PC hardware/gaming. I think the primary or only donations from users should be that of information, help and creating a positive and kickass place for everyone to enjoy. So if ads must be placed on TPU, space them out one top, one bottom (if allowable by contract for proper profits), and let's just all get over it and enjoy this place. TPU has grown and is becoming more successful and recognized every day, this is just a part of that growth. Depending on the direction W1z wants to go with TPU, there will always be some who do like it, some whom are neutral and some whom hate it and leave, in the end, it's his creation and his decision. Thanks for your time!
