Great Idea!!

Ok, I have this idea, what if I take a mini fridge and put my computer in it?

Make some sort of air tight whole or remote switch and have my computer cooled from inside a refigerator.

What do yall think of this idea of mine, I want to try it, but broke right now sooner or later I will.

Ya'll think it a good idea, do you think it will work, what are the flaws?

It will sweat and ruin your pc, but if you can chanel the cool air into the case it would not be as bad.

By sweat, do you mean presperation or condinsation lol?

The idea is that it does not get hot in the first place, iono I'll have to do some more research into, but right now its just an Idea.

Make sure your mini-fridge has absolutely no moisture inside or it'll condense and you'll have a permanently "frozen" PC.

How are you going to send in the wires/cables? The Fridge has to stay closed to be able to cool, right?

I think it's the same concept as insulating your CPU socket when using more extreme methods of cooling such as TEC or Peltier...just condensation accumulates around the parts...and that's bad lol

How are you going to send in the wires/cables? The Fridge has to stay closed to be able to cool, right?

Well,yeah. I'd need to make some sort of air tight wholes to put the wires through.

I'm sure you know how refrigeration works...you place a room-temperature object, it'll cool down in a fridge, but if you're going to place something that potentially heats upto 50'C, the refrigerator's cycler will circulate all the heat absorbed from the PC. And the PC will be spewing heat all the time...your compressor will go bust in no time.

Well it would take some modfication I might even try and see if I can make a custom refrigerator.

Think about, if you could constantly refrigerate your computer, that would be so freakin awsome. Its not exactly practicle, but so aren't a lot of other things.

yea it is sort of flawed! erm to put a hole through a fridge is bad anyway, the gas inside it will leak and the your f'cked. one its gas, two its a ozone killer, and three the fridge wont work!

Dude, get versed with how refrigeration works first: The hot object is the source of heat, the Compressor compresses refrigerant and releases it in high pressure. High pressure>low pressure> drop in temp. But this is all in a cycle. You can't have an object that's constantly giving out 50'c inside. If the compressor can't take in the refrigerant in an acceptable temperature in the next cycle, it could blow up.

I have and idea about taking a water cooler and hooking into a water loop. I took my table top water cooler apart to fix one of it's fans, it wouldn't be that hard to do. The water coming out is like 58*F

Will not work.
Fridges are designed to keep things cool, not cool them. A fridge cannot cool an object that constantly puts out heat. You will blow up your fridge.

plus... most mini-fridges actually use a peltier to cool the contents

Do liquid cooling with the radiators inside the "keg" fridge and do TEC's on the proc/vid card?

You have to remember condensation from a freezer/fridge is non-conductive but will cause corrosion.

still may not work... there is nowhere for the heat generated by the rads within the fridge to go, and eventually i believe it would start to warm up.. those mini fridges dont have "that" powerful a TEC inside them.

But, you could try mounting a rad inside the fridge with the fattest 120mmfan u can find and let us know what it does for the coolent temperatures! when used with watercooling alone :toast:

may work, may not, either way you dont end up with a ruined pc

I vaguely remember a mod where the whole setup is placed in a non-conductive liquid! No kidding! The board, absolutely every component immersed in that liquid. The tank holding the setup has tubes circling it that flow refrigerant.
