The most logical answer to this is to go with the intel/nvidia setup.

My personal choice would be the second intel/nvidia system, with the only difference of using 2x8800gt in sli insteed of the gts... by the way this sli set up mark about as much as one 8800gtx with less power consumption and for about 100$ less.

in any case they are both great systems....

I currently have an AMD based system, but if I could afford.. I would build a kick ass Intel based system. Oh, and I totally agree that Vista anyone can do without.

Well, I'm no fanboy in either direction. I go where the power and performance is. The numbers just don't lie. Right now, Intel based systems are just better. Same goes for Video cards, right now Nvidia is just the performance king. So, all common sense says go for the second system you listed.

First off, WELCOME TO TPU, stay for a while :D

Run with that second PC all day. As paul said, numbers don't lie, and at stock speeds its just plain faster. Now when you get into overclocking, the performance margin widens considerably with that Q6600 capable of 3ghz easy. Most can do 3.2-3.4 on AIR...

Sweet systems....are they the same price? AMD/ATI usually does quite well in the price to performance ratio...if its hundreds cheaper, go with AMD/ATI...

:toast:

And ffs:
I feel that this question is bad. ur gonna get totally biased answers. this just brings up the fight b/w amd and intel/ati and nvidia. your just creating a mad house of idiots man

This stuff pisses me off (smashing my windshield this morning doesn't help my mood either). If you think every thread about AMD/Intel is going to 'create a mad house of idiots', go to some other more 'mature' forum (if you can find such a place). I see from your join date that your vast knowledge of this forums makes it acceptable for you to make these sweeping generalizations.

Very rarely do I see the idiots that you refer to. And once they become idiots, they usually get banned...shit even great members have been banned for being complete idiots.

No hard feelings, it was a simple post, but do you HAVE to do that to NEW members? There is no reason to give people a bad impression of this place for no reason....it would have been nice if you at least posted your opinion pertaining to this thread...

/end rant;

well... intel yes.. but why side ATI with AMD and nv with intel?

ATI cards work equally nice on intel platforms.

the intel cpu for sure, but the card, well thats down to personal preference

and for vista, stop moaning about it (aiming at one or two individuals) as its perfectly fine for gaming, so i ask for you to politely pull that zipper on your lips, as you obviously are jumping on that flimsy misguided bandwagon

edit: and yes, i have used both, and yes, i prefer Vista, and yes, Im a gaming nut :p

Oh yeah, i like my Vista 64 bit better than I did my XP. I got an increase in performance in my applications.

I would go with the AMD system but thats because I support AMD/ATi.

But best performance will come out of the Intel/nVidia setup.

P.S you may want another HDD and dual boot Vista/XP
This way you can see the difference in performance but I do have to say Vista is getting there in 3Dmark.

Take Rig1, take an extra hard-drive, strip your drives across RAID 0, get good performance and end-up saving money too. :p

It's just a matter of one or two dozen frames per second if you ask me....typically or at the most about 15% difference in the fps. you'll end up spending that extra $$ for just that. Else Rig1 has all the features you'll ever need, just take an extra hdd, if you wish and RAID 0 them.
