ATM:

EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra SSC.

There's also a BFG Tech 8800 Ultra OC2 Watercooled that uses a factory fitted Danger Den water-block.

Best card out there is prolly the 8800Ultra. However, it's $800+ the last time I checked. You're much better off getting an 8800GTS 512MB, which has the new G92 core in it. You'll get equivalent or superior performance for about $350 :).

After being OC'ed a BFG Geforce 8800 Ultra OC2 Watercooled is the fastest, people have taken it to 750 MHz core, 2200 MHz memory and 1900 MHz shader.

$800 8800Ultra, which requires extra cash spent on a LCS to cool the thing (up the cost by between $80 and $200), and you're spending around $1000 for the video card alone. Getting a power supply to feed the thing will put you out another $150. $1150 = ouch.

Or....

$360 8800GTS G92, which includes a free copy of Crysis, has a beefy stock air cooler that doesn't require anything more to run, and a power supply that'll handle the thing is no more than $100 for a good one (it's on sale right now, $70 free shipping :)). $460 gets you about the same performance as an 8800Ultra for a lot less cash, effort, and maintenance. Tell me, which one would you choose ;).

Zeky, the topic is about the Fastest card, not the best. Plus it's childtalk. the G92 GTS is a good card for its money, no denying that.

Yep, I'm just warning that to make the 8800Ultra WC work, you need an LCS, LCS installation expertise, and a meaty power supply.

In that case I'd say EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra SSC (Superclocked) it's as easy as installing any other card.

512 mb 2900xt.

They still lead in 3dmark06 over the ultra and physically one can get the core and memory speed going much quicker than an Ultra.

Yeah and still stay way behind the 8800 Ultra in games. People play "games", not benchmarks. And in every game (barring VALVe games), the 8800 Ultra is far ahead. The HD2900 1GB can do better if it's OC'ed to 1.5 GHz core and 3.00 GHz memory using liquid nitrogen cooling.

As you can see, the 2900xt, even while not overclocked is extremely close to the 8800 GTX if not faster than it. Note that this review was done in August after ATI had more time to fix driver issues. I guess that people just hate AMD lol.

The Ultra might be a bit faster, but the 2900xt can overclock higher, thus resulting in higher overall speeds versus the Ultra. This is really stupid though since the Ultra is $740 versus the 2900 pro (underclocked XT) which is $160...

The 8800gts is just 10% faster than the 8800gt. It basically is around the same speed as the GTX. Even with Nvidia's competitive prices with the new gts and gt, both are between $100 and $120 more than a 2900pro which like I said before is just an underclocked XT. I couldn't find any direct comparisons between the new GTS and the GTX, but the gt is between a 640mb GTS and a GTX.

I really don't know what it is, but it seems to be harder and harder to find direct comparisons between Nvidia and ATI with the latest drivers. Many of the review sites appear to be "recylcing" reviews of the 2900xt with release drivers in comparison to the GT/GTS 512.

After being OC'ed a BFG Geforce 8800 Ultra OC2 Watercooled is the fastest, people have taken it to 750 MHz core, 2200 MHz memory and 1900 MHz shader.

let it be 760core clock, 1950 shader clock, and 2400 memory clock :)

The 8800ULTRA is the fastest card out. End of conversation. The HD 2900XT is not as good lol

Rather incorrect X38 has been proven NOT to be the best OCing chip out there at the moment...

The Ultra might be a bit faster, but the 2900xt can overclock higher, thus resulting in higher overall speeds versus the Ultra. This is really stupid though since the Ultra is $740 versus the 2900 pro (underclocked XT) which is $160...

How come there's no card based on the G92 in this comparison ? Forget G92 there's no 8800 GTX or 8800 Ultra. Sorry you can't rank stuff this way keeping two of the highest cards outside the field. You may want to add this line: "Yeah that's the ranking so far, the 8800 GTX and Ultra are kept out, they lead this list anyway"/

The 2900XT could OC higher, but still not come even close to an 8800 Ultra - Axiom
