I am. In fact that's one of the reasons behind not considering to buy a Wolfdale/Yorkfield at all. The Q6600 should do just fine for me till Q2 2009. I was planning for an X38 board with two cards but thanks to you I figured out that Nehalem won't be LGA 775, at least not the upper segment ones. Thank you, Morgoth. Then again it strikes up that Skulltrail is a useless plaform to buy if you're future-proofing considering that the LGA 771/775 will be put to sleep in 2009.

What is the estimated cost for the new 4 & 8 cores? What MBs will they be on?

the first 8 cored cpu with MTT (hyperthreading) is gona be a server xeon cpu 16 threads up to 32Threads
the first 4 cored cpu with MTT (hyperthreading) 8 threads
and 2 cored version with MTT (hyperthreading) 4 threads
for mainboard its gona be a new design up to socket LGA1366 highend desktop and 2 socket server system , LGA1160 midrange desktop , LGA1567 4 socket server system

i would lay money they dont appear in numbers when they should do.. or the price will be sky high which is the same thing..

thats y ive still got <that pc hardware< . im not 1 to upgrade continuously to feed my ego . i like to build something I need, use. then OC it a bit and use the heck outta it ! im sorry but i love my p4 now wheres ma 3850 agp!

What makes you think it won't? lol. Besides, by the time you have humanely priced Nehalem derivatives, you'll be in Q2~3 2009 a new set of sockets bring along new chipset designs, motherboard designs, the uncertainity over whether the current ATX specifications would survive or would we see a new form-factor with the motherboards, PSU's so you see, a lot of things go into making a big change in the industry. Nehalem certainly is a big change that will trigger changes with many other things.

Yes, I will be going for Nehalem next year. Although I've been finding it hard to holdback getting an x38 board and/or Kentsfield/Wolfdale. *must...resist...temptations*
But I will be changing Gfx card soon to DX10.
