Considering my current hardware specs and a $120 budget which new egg mobo would be my best Ocer and allow me to add 2 more 1 gig sticks of DDR2 to my system?I only need a pci-e,no AGP needed,no floppy needed,I plan on getting two more ram sticks just like the two i have.Thanx guys!

While I prefer Newegg on most things I suggest you go to mwave.com for the mobo. Several are cheaper.

This sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed ASAP! Girlfriend should NEVER have her mitts on your CC! Of course if you're using hers this point is moot...

Unless your gonna be pushing the FSB past 500Mhz (which I highly doubt) you probably won't have a problem with the heat from the Northbridge.

The PCI-E x1 slot is used for wireless cards, theres a couple lowend videocards that use it, a few soundcards (not Creative ones), and even some USB controller cards, etc. Basically a PCI (not PCI-E) alternative.

Thanx water, lots of the reviews listed a hot norhbridge as the only con and I plan on OCing as high as possible without doing damage, figured the cooler would be a good pre-emtive strike.

Where you can you still find IP35s? Alll I see is the IP35Pro. It seems the IP35-E was discontinued along with the Abit IP35.

But yes, I too would recommend the Gigabyte P35 and Abit P35 boards as well. I personally have been thinking about the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P, which is probally a bit out of your price range at $165, but there are many other Gigabyte P35 boards starting at just $80. The cheaper ones usually just lack features such as firewire, RAID, and usually have less SATA ports and USB ports. But their overclocking ability is still just as strong.

The main differences between them are board layouts and features. Do you need RAID? Do you need Firewire? How many USB ports do you want onboard? Overclocking is excellent on the Abit P35's, Gigabyte P35's, and DFI's "Bloodiron" P35.
