which one to use? i just want one a sleak as possible but with keyboard media-controls

i've used winamp for a LOOOONG time but it is starting to get bloatier with every release (still like it a fair bit though)

WMP is out of the question, the library has been enough to drive me INSANE

VLC, a very very very nice player but lacks the keyboard support i really really want

any suggestions?

KMplayer is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Maybe even better, since I think it can do everything including make and slice bread. Oh yeah, and it's free and self-contained like VLC.

The keyboard support in Media Player Classic is fantastic!

NumPad 1-9: resize, aspect ratio (5 = default)
Space: pause/continue
Ctrl + Arrow left/right: jump fw/bw 5 seconds
Alt + Arrow left/right: jump fw/bw 20 seconds
Ctrl + Arrow up/dwn: speed adjustment (x2/x4)
NumPad +/-: audio delay +/-
Alt + Return: full screen
Mouse Wheel / Arrow up/down: audio volume

What I really like is the ability to download and save internet clips from youtube and the like, straight to your 'puter.

If you´re running WMP in Vista, welcome to mfpmp.exe (Microsoft Foundation Protected Media Pipeline)
which sucks more performance than the player itself.

VLC is the best network media player ever made (streaming content).

Real Player 11 allows you to save all your YouTube/Reever/Break (.flv) videos from the browser directly and allows you to record internet radio. It does have a healthy set of keyboard shortcuts: http://i.realone.com/product/help/rp11/en/Content/Keyboard_Shortcuts.htm

For me it's WMP for local media, VLC for streams, Real for saving/viewing flash videos.

I just get the mozilla plugin and download the youtube vids and then just rename the extension to .avi or something. Works good.

Exactly what I use. I actually ponied up the money for the Pro wmv version, I liked it so much. Now I don't even have to use WMP to play all my wmv files. Yay! lol

can you guys name me a good media player that will play back 5.1 audio? or maybe i just havent figured out how to get it to work w/ vlc or zoom. even wmp requires a purchase to run 5.1
