Mine would be 3 days after building my rig I did a little overclocking on the video card and i ran 3dmark and my comp crashed loaded it back up there was alot of pink and purple artifacts on the screen.I tried to restart the comp and it wouldn't boot.took the video card out and it loaded right up... So i killed my video card after 3 days.

Was doing some of my "custom" cooling that involved tying fans down with twisted pair.
Tried to loop one of the wires through the power supply, while the computer was on, and CRACK!!! Smoke filled my room and there went my power supply

just 2 weeks ago, was doing a pencil mod to my 3870. all was going well and I was measuring the voltage and rubbed the DMM lead over the card, the video froze, rebooted, card dead. :cry:

still havent gotten over that :cry:

first off i was downloading a huge driver for something (cant remember what it was for), i left my pc to run overnight. :shadedshu
it rained that night, i was asleep, big bang lots of smoke, i literally shit myself the whole house went completely black, monitor was black, socket was charred, and the monitor had a big hole that was melted from the electricity and the fire.... :nutkick:

but for some profound reason my graphics card and pc were totally fine :confused:

1st: When I got my current PC assembled all together at 3am, the last thing to do was to plug in the monitor (analog one, not DVI). And cos of that, I had to insert one DVI to Analog sort of a thing on the DVI ports on the GFX, and then plug in the monitor. I turn the PC on, and the color goes wild. I though to my self...here go 400+ Euros! And I didn't sleep at all cos of that. Later in the morning, I found out that the DVI to Analog switch was bad so I've put in a new one, worked fine.

2nd. One day, I didn't notice that my southbridge fan isn't working, and my PC re-started my it self, then again, and again, and again. I opened it up, and I saw the fan not spinning, and when I touched it, I burned my finger cos it was so hot. Thought I fried the mobo, but everything was fine.

Faulty PSU, lots of smoke and big flash nuff said.

Losing data that was valuable is always a bummer or when you accidentally delete the wrong file.

OH a good one was i found my Rome Total War disk 1 half snapped and it was my favourite game :mad:

Oh and trying to find a partition program that was free for linux because the one that came with linux didnt work.

when I was working in a pc store as a trainee, and accidently dropped a brand new 250gb samsung sata drive to the floor. after putting the drive in all i heard was the disk inside shattering to pieces. Luckily my boss didnt know what the hell happened, and i saved myself from ass whooping :eek:

i took it out of the slot to reach the ram, and forgot to put the card back in. so the card was out on the floor, but with a nice juicy power lead up its butt. Its a sure fire way to kill video cards.

Same here. But not only did everything fry, it also caught fire (dunno how exactly). The fire fighters were thrilled, they say it's the first time they ever saw the computer itself catch fire

Mine was clipping down the heatsink on a Abit NF7-S and seeing the flat-head screw driver ripping through bridges on the motherboard cause I slipped!! I learned don't be in such a rush to play with your new toys.
