This is useless to me...

Why would I care how a low end 9xxx preforms in comparison to high end 8xxx...

hehe. sry guys, I know its early for the gx2, and it will obviously get some improvements with driver revisions, but 10k from Gx2 vs 14.5K from X2 kinda makes me grin. (with Gx2 on faster cpu 3.2ghz york compared to 3ghz regular quad)

BUT, again, we need both cards ran at hi rez to really see how big their balls are

I'm glad ATI has the better position now in the GPU market. Both companies have a habit of slacking off while they're ahead and its always been a back and forth between the two companies. ATI was doing well with the 19xx cards for a good amount of time and got smacked up by the 8800 for a good year and a half. Then nVidia got lazy and greedy and just released 1,000 different versions of the 8800. I have no allegiance to a company, its stupid to. They make a product and want our money. If their product sucks, its simple. Don't buy it. I don't stick with a company just because I like them. Buying the GX2 over the 3870 X2 seems silly right now.

As other people have said, this is relating the performance of synthetic benchmarks (3dmark06) not real game play.

http://en.expreview.com/2008/02/23/geforce-9600gt-review/?page=16

(I'm not bashing the x2 what so ever, its a sick card, lol.) As a comparison, the article below shows a pair of 9600gt's vs a x2. It shows the X2 is better than the 9600gt's in 3dmark06, but in real game play, the 9600gt's do dominate. Since the g94 is a variation of the g92, you can semi-compare these results. It really all depends on what you are testing it with. To make a definitive answer if the GX2 or X2 is better, we really need to see both sides of the cards, synthetic and real time game play.

Yes the 9600 seems like a great bargain. Midranged card used to have a stigma with them as poor performing, but now they're great for a majority of gamers that aren't out to build hardcore systems.

Yeah. We really cant make a decision now if the X2 or GX2 is better. Since we are not comparing game play fps, you really cant make a decision if one is better or now.

But it does seem the X2 will have the upper hand in the whole situation. So thumbs up to ATI for their X2 :D

cod4 and bioshock arent the best examples for the X2. COD4 runs better with just one gpu enabled on the x2 - at least on my machine. But luckily on 5th march the 8.3 drivers are gonna be released and things will change. hopefully.

I hope ati drops the price on the x2, it is to high even to be worth it considering two 3870's are cheaper... The price is the only thing wrong with the 9800 but it will still sell, I think $100 cheaper would have been wise.

it is higher than 2x 3870's, but it is infact better than 2x3870's. but i imagine the price will drop soon enough, if only by a little

I think the pricing on the x2 its really good compared to the 8800gts /8800gt 8800gtx / when they were first released the gtx was going for £600+ thats crazy pricing. and the x2 has dropped in price slightly. ebuyer has good weekly deals now and again the last deal saw a visiontek x2 going for £272 right down to £235. i plan to get another also when the price drops enough.
