Looks like a nice cooler. I've avoided Xigmatek coolers because of the push pin design. It just never seems as secure as a backplate mounting system. I might have to give this one a try though.

same here, although i noticed that many reviews consider the backplate installation a downside, since you gotta take the whole motherboard off, but hey that way you get more hold.

You can email them to send you a free backplate bolt thru kit for the HDT S1283.

The HDT S1283 has already taken the performance crown from the TRUE...

I have found their push-pin design to be as-good if not better than the AC Freezer 7 Pro which was 10X better than intel's design...where the pins popped in easier, yet held tighter. My Xig1283 w/push pins was easy as hell to install, yet doesn't budge even with moderate force after seated...using a backplate won't be much more of an improvement unless there's a lot of transportation involved imo. Seriously, it's a pretty good design they've implemented and at least worth a shot...especially if they're slow at getting back to ya on the backplate...I have been very impressed thus far...and this new cooler looks just kickass...may have to switch up to it in the future!

I noticed that too :wtf:, it might just be because the ultra extreme's block's surface is kinda warped, but i guess if you lapp it flat, you get the true performance.

yes the TRUE's surface has minor manufacturing issues, which is the concave base of it... Moreover, I find the surface area excuse for the rather poor finish very underwhelming. The rest of the heatsink is damn top notch! Why ruin it with the poor base? The TRUE gets the performance crown back, AFTER its lapped flat however. I felt rather pissed off that my Ultra 120 eXtreme which i had purchased was inferior.... I wont be bothered lapping it anyway because its in the other PC-there is no need.

Anyway in terms of value, the HDT with its constantly dropping prices is truely amazing for what it can do. The HDT S1284 with that Nickel plating... wow.

This new one is rather tempting, though i dont like the fan (but i have got LOADS of spares anyway) and yes, their prices are very good, i can see this being under £30 here, i want one for my opty rig (or swap it with my infinity, and put that on the opty)

Yeah... get something like a Noctua 9 bladed fan or one of those scythe 1.9k RPM slipstreams (however the heatsink doesnt have high air resistance so the extra airflow wont do much.

EDIT: I thought erocker didnt like the title of the thread...

I think it is mush more wise for people to wait for the V-series of Coolermaster. One of the CPU coolers contain 8 heatpipes with 2x a 120 mm fans so it will keep your CPU at 15 degrees or even less i mean it depends on the airflow of your case and how high you are going to OC.

Here´s a link to the coolers for more information and pictures.

15*C? Unless the room was freezing cold or there was a TEC plate sandwiched, there is no chance that it can cool like that. I cant really say anything yet but from current proof that one 3 heatpipe direct touch cooler can outperform a six heatpipe (TRUE), I really doubt the performance will be that much better than the HDT S1283. We shall wait and see the performance of the V8/V10s, but its been two months already... CM release them already!

I'm going to use this to freeze my E6300, and send the HDT S1283 to freeze my E2160, and the TRUE to my cousin's Pentium D (Where the TRUE should perform the best as the Pentium Ds have a convex IHS)
