How much do you guys think I could get for this system?

Okay so I just threw together a system last night with some extra parts. So far the only money of my own I had to spend was $30 for a mobo and $10 for a heatsink, I also guess you could count my 8600gt I got back from rma yesterday. Anyways here are the specs:

Intel Pentium D 920 - 2.8ghz
Asus P5VD2-VM Mobo
1gb (2x512) DDR2 533 ram
Leadtek 8600gt 256mb gddr3
Lite-On DVD-Rom
Seagate 160gb Sata I HDD
Logisys 450w PSU
Cheap case

So how much do you guys think I could get for this like on craigslist, basically everything I make off of it is cash I can put into my pc. Would I better off just keeping this as a backup system?

depends, do you need a backup system?

id say £150 ($300?) is a fair price considering that my old dell dimension p4 530, 1gb ram, 6600gt and similar is worth around £100. tha proc and gfx is ok imo thats ur money maker

sell it off then. look around ebay etc. to see how much similar spec pc's are going for, gives you a good idea of how much to price it for.

i wonder...is there anywhere that gives you prices on 'used' hardware, like you can get get used car prices lol

I don't know of a site for used computer prices but Micro Mart did do a few articles about used gear mobos, gfx cards , HDDs etc. I would find site but just going out dooo

I ran that setup threw Newegg.. New (even if bought today) that system would cost around $375 USD, without the OS or shipping..

I don't think $300-$350 would be a bad price to pay if it had an OS installed already..

thats the best way to do it. Add about $10-15 to it, that's what I do when I sell things.

Back again, sorry 'bout b4 had to dash !! I agree be better off selling as a complete package rather than separate parts but you might want to test the waters on ebay by selling it without OS rather than adding one which cuts into your profits?? Just my thoughts :rockout:

Ill post it on craigslist for $350 and see If I get any offers. If no one is willing to pay at least $300 I think ill just keep for a cheap media center.

Looks like my whole plan just when down the drain. I was installing windows on it and all of the suddden the computer turned off and now the motherboard won't turn on. Looks like I just have to send the mobo back to newegg. It was an open box so they will just refund my money back. Im thinking I should just part the rest of the stuff out on ebay, craigslist, or here.

When you say the mobo won't turn on, what do you mean exactly? What's it doing?

The motherboard makes no reaction at all. I am pretty sure its not a psu issue because I tried 2 different psus that I know work and got nothing. There is a l.e.d. on the board that lights up but when I try to give the computer some power I get nothing.

Also sometimes the fan will slightly twitch, and I mean very slightly. It doesn't spin up at all, it moves about 1 mm then stops.

Anyone have any idea why it wont power on before I send this mobo back?

check your motherboard pins for the power button and reset button etc. it might have come out a little.

nah thats not it, I took the whole mobo out of the case to make sure there wasnt a bad shot or something and just used a screw driver to touch the two power pins together, it was still a no go. This is really weird, even dead mobo still power on usuall, but I can't even get it to power on.

Your power phasing for the processor could be toast. Bad caps etc.

Hmm, all of the case look fine. Where would the power phasing thing be located. Its not the end of the world. Ill just send it back to newegg and get my money. Usually I can get them to pay for shipping so I wont be out anything. I would rather get this working though.

300 tops, switch out the proc with maybe an e2X series Allendale and you would get roughly $375-385 from me.
