How do you keep dust out of your PC?

No matter how hard i try i can never get my computer to not get dusty. I know that you never can get a computer air tight because that wouldn't end up well. but it should be getting covered in dust every 4 days. Any help would be great.

On another note, how do i get a heatsink fan off when the cpu is stuck to it?(I pulled my last one off and the was bad:shadedshu)

Women's stocking work great. They catch dust very well... just make sure to clean them. Also, keep your computer away from the carpet / ground.

In all seriousness, as long as you are diligent about cleaning it, you shouldn't have any issues. I clean mine about once a month, taking extra care to blow out the fins on my coolers.

I use a paint brush and compressed air to clean my PC... paint brush works great for those hard to reach fan areas.

live in a bubble..
I live in the desert and there is tons of dust, so far my way is to build/rebuild it every week.

Like PVTCaboose1337 mentioned a lot of people like to use pantyhose over the intake fans.

Mkmods... I'm sure you have a way making your case dust proof being a modder.... O WAIT! Submerge the PC in oil... perfect... no dust.

Yeah same answer... hold the fan still, get compressed air... and spray... then use the paint brush to wipe it. In extreme cases put the pantyhose around the cpu cooler with a wire mesh holding it up.

do it when its warm, twist slowly than pull.
(DO NOT TWIST WHILE PULLING)

If comp wont run and get warm use a hairdryer to heat the heatsink up a bit.

I may make a case with removable filters, keep reminding me as I can be a bit scatter brained(forgetful)

Tools are your friends... a gentle push on the tab with a screwdriver undoes the HS... LITTLE FORCE... cause I have hit the board before... it broke.

Use the same washable plastic filter material that bagless hand vacuums use. That way you don't buy hose :laugh:

, and plastic filters last forever. They let through more air aswell.

Hose will eventually "run" and you have to throw it away. :laugh:

They are a little more expensive though.

actually not that much i tried it i just took the lint filter out and held it infront of my case fan and does cut the airflow but not a whole lot

well im pretty sure you can buy that kinda thing at a hardware store or something...i haven't looked yet but its on my list of things to do...
but if you do use that stuff be sure to check it cuz once it starts to get full it will cut the air flow badly!

i just use positive air pressure in the case, it keeps the dust out so i dont have to use filters as much.

getting a stuck heatsink off, i often use a hairdryer. heat might sound bad, but it does work - its not like the PC is running while its hot.
