Intel Xeon 3320 Quad Core 2.50Ghz
or
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.50Ghz

theres a problem with the Q9300 i ordered and can pick to get a refund to get a new Q9300 some place else or get a Xeon 3320

Which would be better for my gaming machine?

It's still 45nm like your current chip but it's a server chip. There are many people here that who can vouch for how great Xeons are. <<<looks at TRT>>>

Xeons, although they may share the same architecture as their workstation brethren, often come from a production run with slightly more demanding QC, since clients building servers often require the most stable of hardware. The difference is usually minor, and undetectable to most users, face it, most processors are pretty fair quality, and stable. If you have the opportunity to get a Xeon than go for it.
