I've tried with the AI Clock Twister @ Stronger and it fails MemTest ISO test but it does pass if i select Light, instead of Stronger. Then, i changed the multi to 6 and reduced the CPU volts to 1.3875 and started Prime95 but it freezes the PC after about 15 minutes. Tried changing the AI Clock Twister to Lighter but little to no effect.

I'm guessing the problem is with the memory settings so i'm asking if someone can suggest changes in this page in order to maintain this memory speed and, if impossible, lower the speed a bit.

EDIT

CRAP :( WRONG sub-forum :(

@ mods: please move this post to the "Motherboards & Memory" section. Thank you in advance!

EDIT #2

Forgot 1 line in the BIOS: the "Common Performance Level" line

looks like you need to move your dram frequency back to 900-1000 and run the timings the same and see what she does. ALLEN

Right now, i'm trying to maintain this memory speed. If it's impossible, i'll try that.

Thanks for the suggestion, dude

try manually setting ref cycle time trfc to 55 or 60

CPU GTL Reference :0.63
North Bridge GTL Reference : 0.67

I have this setting for my quad but im, not sure about your cpu?.
have u tried putting the ai clock twister to auto and just mess with the preformance level while adjusting (trfc) or try cas 6 maybe?

The only thing i tried was the AI Clock Twister:

@ Stronger - fail in MemTest ISO
@ Auto - fail in MemTest ISO
@ Light or Lighter - Pass in MemTest ISO

As for the rest, haven't tried.

This memory is the Dominator DHX CL4 from Corsair and i've tried all 4 sticks i have (only using 2, atm) @ it's rated speed (4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v) but they fail MemTest ISO. Tried it using stock options in this BIOS page, except the 4-4-4-12 part and the DRAM volts, which were @ 2.04 in BIOS for a 2.1 real.

Currently, i'm using an 8 multi and only changed the CPU volts to 1.40, used Crystal CPUID to change the multi to 6, maintaining the rest and this is what it reads:

Will try your suggestions after lunch.

If your going to run that memory close to 1066 your going to have to apply more voltage to it. 2.2 at least and try adding some mch voltage also or 1.70 on northbridge. ALLEN

Ok: tried every suggestion thus far presented and ... none worked

Tried a different multi, getting the same speed (9 * 393 instead of 8 * 442) and using a different memory divider, lowered the memory speed from 1062 to 985 and ... didn't work either :banghead:

Any other suggestions?

You need to use tCL = 4.

Here is a where you should start.....set 4-4-4-15 with 5:6 divider @ 400 FSB and tRD = 7(or 6 if you can) which will give you DDR2-960 speeds. I'm using 1.71v MCH and 2.2v ram(2.16 in bios) with 4 x 1GB sticks of PC2-6400 Ballistix. If you ram wont run at these speeds then you might need to bump the voltage up to 2.2v or you will need to use a slower memory divider.

Once you get it stable at these settings you can bump the FSB up maybe 5 at a time until it becomes unstable.

shouldn't his voltage be higher than 1.3 idk just looks low to me.

I've tried it with 1.4425 (in BIOS) which gives me 1.37 real: still no go and it freezes @ about 10 minutes after Prime95 started it's torture test.

I had a 6 multi while testing to see if the problem was the memory or the CPU as per instructions on this site:

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3156&p=4

Have only tried @ 4-4-4-12: never @ 4-4-4-15. Didn't work because i couldn't raise much above 800 MHz but i'll try.

Thank you all for the suggestions!

Nope: didn't work. Couldn't even start windows :(

Tried setting it @ 6 * 550 with a 1 : 1 divider and then lowered the FSB to 442 (884 MHz @ 5-5-5-18 with tRD = 8) and it worked: FINALLY!

I'll try it @ 8 * 442 with LLC enabled, VCore @ 1.4 in BIOS. Check pic below:

Btw: i tried this with a lower VCore voltage but it froze. Started @ 1.375 and raised 1 increment @ a time until it stopped freezing: 1.39357 volts, with LLC enabled.

If anyone has any further suggestions, i'm all ears :)

It does heat up, a LOT, and i expect it to do so until my NH-U9B arrives. That's the only problem i have with my case: GREAT air flow but too narrow to fit higher coolers like True, NH-U12P, Xigmatek and the like :shadedshu

Any other suggestions?

EDIT

@ Mods: any chance you could move this to the "Motherboards and Memory" section? I chose the WRONG forum when i made the original post :(

Ran Prime95 for 56 minutes with no errors: will prime overnight.

Also: lapped my CPU and stock heatsink and got a combined drop of 10º, according to real temp 2.5 :rockout:

With multipliers other then 1 / 1, i was never able to run @ 4-4-4-12, which is why i thought i wasn't able.

With the revisions, i was able to prime95 for 2 hours with 0 errors and warnings, using 0.008 less volts then with LLC enabled (under load): it's value was 1.3600v. Dunno if i can drop a little bit more on the VCore but i'll try: will leave it primming overnight!

Are these temps OK?

NB temps are as low as 35º, in idle, and as seen in the pic. SB temp is 38, in PC Probe II: my screenie utility was over it ...

Here's a pic of it primming:

Look @ the voltage under load: it's lower with LLC disabled then it was with LLC enabled.

1 question, though: in the pic above, why has prime95 different tests in the 2 cores? I have seen 1 test difference (1 core finishes a test a few seconds before the other), but 3 tests?

If anybody has more suggestions, i'm all ears :)

Many thanks to echo75 for the help in achieving this OC: although the RAM is quite slower (around 800 in Everest memory read), i manage to be ... 1 MHz faster ... but, more importantly, 4º cooler.

Here's a pic of my latest Prime95 run:

About the temps, i'm still unsure which is the accurate one:

Real Temp gives 66º (it's the one i base my readings on) but OCCT (not in the pic), Core Temp and Everest all read the same (@ lower temps, OCCT temp readings are between Real Temp and Core Temp). That only means they take their reading the same way: doesn't mean it's the right one!

Applying what i had learned in the previous post to an 8 multi worked and now the RAM is 700 points in Everest memory read faster, when compared to using the 9 multi, i manage to be ... 1 MHz sower, again ... but, more importantly, be as cool as with the previous attempt using a 9 multi: 66º.

Here's a pic of my latest Prime95 run:

I can offer no explanation as to why i was unable to lower the VCore 2 posts back and earlier (tried it but it kept crashing Prime95 between 20 and 40 minutes into the run) except maybe the lower NB, but i don't really know if it had anything to do with it!

@ mods: a change in the title wouldn't be a bad idea, IMO. Something along the lines of "HTC's OCed BIOS setting's progression"!
