Whats a good MotherBoard?

Whats a good MotherBoard i cant spend over about $270 for it i will be using a ZOTAC GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 and Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W this is my first custom cpu and im stuck on if i should get a DFI LP LT X48-T2R or DFI LP LT X38-T2R or if i should get a EVGA 680i or EVGA 780i i dont know the dif from a Intel X48, Intel X38, and the 680i and 780i North Bridge whats better and im going to be playing some games like BF2142, WOW, CIV4, and maybe if i can get the holy :respect:

Crysis and i will be doing school work on it too.

get the dfi x48 board :toast:

also other x48 boards like the gigabyte x48 boards or the asus ones are good too

If you plan on running 2 graphics cards from NVidia you will want to get a EVGA board since it uses a NVidia chipset, the DFI board's use an Intel Chipset and will not run 2 NVidia cards. If you plan on sticking to one graphics card, then I would say go for the DFI board with the X48 Chipset.

or you could use solaris's drivers

680i (an evga board will serve you well here)
780/790's have trouble with corruption issues and stuff and are terrible imo.

No it doesnt. I would get the DFI X48 tho. If you wanna save money tho the DFI P35 Lanparty T2RS is great too :cool:

@Pancho, that alleged data-corruption issue doesn't happen to 780i SLI. The OP didn't mention 790i anywhere in the first post.

I would reccomend the p35 or x38 by asus,gigabyte,abit,msi,or dfi. All are going to be similiar quality. The x48 is supposed to be a better overclocker, but having multiple p35 mobos that run 500+ fsb I cant see it doing much better. ALLEN

get a Asus Maximus Formula and flash its' BIOS to the Rampage.
Same board, different BIOS. Cheaper, too.

The DFI P35 is an excellent choice. I will swear by it.

The DFI x48 is also an excellent choice. Though a tad more expensive for pretty much the same OC potential as the P35.

Agreed, this board had some problems with some Micron based PC8500 ram. Not all brands were effected though. But that problem is fixed with the latest bios release 1201.
