My Plantronics GameCom headset just broke, I can only hear out of one side now. What headset do you guys recommend? The most I can do is $40, it'll just be used for World of Warcraft, and maybe the occasional FPS. I want something that's durable and will last me a while (I've had 3 Plantronics already).

Thanks,
-Azn

I just bought a SteelSeries Siberia a few months back and I love it. There aren't many online stores that sell them, but they are out there. If you buy one don't pay the outrageous $80 that it costs on the SteelSeries website.

I've been threw a lot of head sets in the past. A lot of Logitech and one Creative... I picked up one of these and I fell in love with them! I can wear them for 8 hours at a time and not want to take them off!

And there isn't anything wrong with usb, some times its better for the fact that if you go with a sound card, there is no front panel support...

I have the creative headset. It's very comfortable and the sound quality seems decent enough for headphones, although this is the most expensive headset I've ever owned so I can't really say how it compares to others. I like the removable mic.

I've seen that one, and thought about getting it when I needed a new one. Just wasn't sure about getting another Creative myself...

My pair now was my most expensive also... but at the time it was $89!

The most I can spend now is $70, so anything at or below $70 that's good?

My Planetronics Gamecon did the same thing.. I got a pair of Logitechs, then those died. So I got a Razer Piranha and they are great! They were 70$ at best buy when I got them.

I've been using an Altec Lansing AHS615 set for a while, but will be replacing them soon (finally buggared the jacks) - really great headset, comfortable, supports 3D sound, mic, great frequency reproduction.

if you want a great headset, competively priced, and amoungst the uber-1337 category of headsets: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158065
- but, they come at a hefty premium

asides - their Fatal1ty set is nice, but I personally think the HS-900 to be better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158053&Tpk=hs-900, although its db SPL is slightly lower than the Fatal1ty, it's be hard to notice 5db with a headset, asides, the HS-900 is lighter in weight = less fatigue.

the Razer Barracuda HP-1 is also a really great offering, one of the best with multi-driver setups, newegg has a special right now the 7.1 headset with the AC-1 audio card for $199: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829153002 (the headset itself typically retails close to $125, the soundcard tends to retail $170)

I don't know if you must have a mic on the headset or not, but I picked up a pair of Sony MDR-V150 headphones for twenty bucks and a cheap desk mic for like 8 bucks. I'm amazed with the sound quality of these headphones. They are well worth the twenty bucks, and make my old $80 Sennhiesers sound like tin-cans.

I'm thinking about getting these now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826504004

My friend has this headset and he recommended them to me. I was looking at the reviews and most of them (if not all of them) got really good reviews...at $64 it's a decent price so should I go for it? Unless anyone has had a bad experience with these I think these are the ones that I'm going to get.

The Creative Fatal1ty is a good one. Good microphone/earphone quality, and cheap.

I have to disagree on the piranha's here....Ive had a pair for a whle I did a hastey review on...Initially they were great...neat features and those oooOOOO cool LED's.

What I found was an constant crackle when the mute switch got loose after about a month of use. Also after too much time at the PC,I found they really put a grip on your head, sorta like a vise, and not in a good way!

After even geting the set for free...I stashed them and went back to the tried and true, Sony MDR-V150 headphones($19@ BB) and my Logitech Boom mic USB ($20 @BB)

I think I'm just going to get the Creative Fatal1ty Headset...price isn't too much and the reviews (both professional and customer) were great. With the eDimensional the customer reviews weren't as great as I thought.

Also, I was reading something about the Fatal1ty that it can use CMSS-3D with Fatal1ty soundcards...I don't have a Fatal1ty soundcard but my Soundblaster still has CMSS-3D...would it still work?
