Must Read Tweaktown Article if you plan on doing 48xx in Crossfire

It seems like more than a few people are interested in getting two 4850 or 4870 cards now that they've (more or less) lived up to the hype.

But Tweaktown just posted an article comparing Crossfire on a Gigabyte P45 vs. X48 board, and the x8/x8 configuration can be severely handicapped at high settings.

Glad I decided to buy a Maximus Formula.

Only question now is, how much of a performance boost will the 4870 bring?

No, I don't believe there are any x38/x48 boards that aren't pci-e2.0.

The X38 supports PCI-E 2.0.

Very interesting article. I was contemplating getting a P45 motherboard, but now I will definitely go with a X48.

X38 would do the job, too, if you want to save some money. There's a decent number of them floating around on the forums.
