What's the best way to clean a monitor with absolutely no proper products for it?

It's rubbing alcohol.

isopropanol/isopropyl you can find at a pharmacy it's rubbing alcohol it comes in 70% 90% 99% use a Tek or J-Cloth. you can also buy pre-applied wipes

as hat said, its commonly found in rubbing alcohol, one thing thats found in a lot of people's house.

also, glass cleaners such as windex also work.

i know they're fine on glass, like crt's or imacs.. but i've use windex on my lcd without any ill effects, can you enlighten me?

LCD's are not made of glass it can damage the screen. "LCD Cleaner" is just 50% Isopropanol 50% Water.

I would not use that, as you do not want to wear down the outer thin pane of glass. Its thin enough, don't need to make it thinner.

Edit: Thought they were, what is the outer pane made of? An acrylic based substance?

i know that most aren't made from glass.. and i know that most lcd cleaners are composed on isopropanol.. and im asking for an elaboration on why i cant use windex on lcd's.. cause like i said, i've done that countless times without any ill effects..

it's probably cheaper just to pick up the things you need at a pharmacy some commercial LCD Cleaners can run up to $30, Isopropanol/Isopropyl 70% should do it, it's mixed with 30% Water, use a lint free cloth like a Tek or J-Cloth unscrew the lid put the cloth on top, tilt it just to dampen.

Well Windex and stuff contain ammonia. It won't damage your screen much at first, but if you keep using it, it can over time.

No problem.

Yeah. Windex is fine on CRT's since they have such a think pane of glass, but on LCD's, the thin pane is so thin, the ammonia in the Windex may/can start harming it.
