lately i've benn having some weird freezing problems with my PC. For most of the time my CPU was OCed to 3.5...then the freesing started, then tried lower clocks and voltages but even though the my pc would still freeze it wouldnt be as often, But now its just frustrating, because it even does it at default setting, I've cleaned my pc, and did a[same ver] Bios update. and still i get the freezing problem at default settings. I checked if my CPU was over heating but thats not the case. SO im lost.:shadedshu

Try running Memtest and chkdsk at stock settings and see what you get.

*"I've cleaned my pc"
what exactly do you mean by that?
*does it freeze only in windows? what if you run smething not in windows (like live CD or something like memtest...)?
*may be it a virus, I had a virus that made my PC stop responding...
*do you have another HDD? try putting another OS on another HDD and see if crashing continue..

I meant, physically cleaning, I actually took it apart, cleaned all components and put it back on. I havent tried memtest yet, but i will, also i dont know if the crash could be the HDD or Malicious software related, because my PC freezes and makes a screetching sound [used to happen to me when I OCed too much on other PC]. but ill still try a fresh copy of window on a diff. HDD.

If screetch = one long beep, according to Abit, one long beep = One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU

The only time I've ever had freezing and a screetching sound my HDDs were failing.

It must be Drivers or because of your OC Windows files might be corrupt. It happened to me once. So I re-installed windows at the same clock speed and all is fine for last 6 months.

I had a screeching problem right before my video card died. Its usualy a sign that something is shorting.

I did that and so far everything is stable, i tried to push my system i little further after that and ran into some problems but i guess they were just "bad OC" problems that i can fix later. Im gonna keep the same clocks for a couple of days and stress my PC to see the stability.
