Question about power supply and G-card

i have a raptorx rt-450psp power supply
ASUS P5K motherboard
AUSU EN8600 GT

i going to buy an XFX Geforce 8800 GT alpha dog edition (1GB DDR3, GPU 1GH)
can my power supply handle the new video card ? and i hope u give further information about this version of geforce 8800.

If you give us the amount of amps on the 12 volt rail, it might work.

(the 8800GT takes quite a bit more power than the 8600 series)

the sky king is junk (12A on the 12V rail for a 650watt PS is awful)

Its gonna be hard to help as the Powersupply is the backbone to a good comp (a good one will support it but a bad one will cause all kinds of problems)

I would recommend a better PS first, if that is not possible than to work with what you have I would sell the 8600GT and buy a pair of these to run in crossfire

They draw very little power (shouldnt force your Power Supply as much as an 8800GT)

or a single 3850. Since your motherboard is Crossfire compatible I would look to ATI cards instead of Nvidia.

Many thanks for the advices MK, but another problem is i don't have many option... ATI is almost unavilable, in one week there will be some good products around so i'll check'em out and definitely get backe to you for consultation...

Since none of us have ever used the Raptorx PS we cant say for sure. The 9600GT is a very good card and requires less power than the others so if a 4850 (replacement for the 3850 and a very good card too) is out of the question than the 9600GT is a winner.
