Tri core is still way overpriced. They need to be in the 80-130 range for the current offerings to be feasible, imo.

I agree. I would love to upgrade the 4200 to one but 125$ still seems high when I can get a Intel Celeron + mobo for that much.

Actually the newer Phenoms seem to run cooler compared to older ones. Picked up a Phenom 8450 + ECS 7050 combo from Frys for $130. Its runs damn cool and wicked fast. I put the phenom into Abit AN-M2 mobo (kept the ECS). At stock voltage it OCd to 2.35Ghz. Idle 28C and load 42C with Thermaltake silent boost (waiting for a better cooler). That is damn cool when compared to my 9500 which was really hard to cool without a decent cooler. I wish I can OC more but something is limiting me may its the mobo.

Make sure your mobo runs a 140watt CPU (not many do) to run the 9950.

my 9500 runs reasonably cool i mean its a quad core lol im running 40C idle 52C load @2.8ghz 1.37v

currently the

all support 9950s

Look at the volts of the 9950BE lol. Maybe my 9850 could do that I havn't oced this yet though. Well see what i can do once i got organized on some things.
