Games crashing with 4850s, might be Catalyst?

All,

We've all went to town hacking these 4850s. I got mine to run pretty fast, but suffered crashing while playing games. So then I reinstalled the stock BIOS (asus) and they still continue to crash.

I've tried base 8.6 Cats, as well as a complete uninstall and cleaning, and fresh install of the Hotfix driver. Still crashing in games reliably, yet no info in event logs.

Any ideas?

Could be an underpowered PSU?

Please fill out the System Specs tab in your UserCP, that way we all know what you're working with.

Thanks.

What games are they? The drivers we are running are still test drivers. Not really official. Hence why they are not released on the normal ATI driver downlaod page. It only goes up to the 3xxx series. no 4xxx series yet.

Crysis, Jericho, Stalker, etc. Also getting a consistent DirectX crash in 3Dmark06, with some "vertex shader load failure" message.

I wonder if I corrupted some DX files with all the overclocking runs I made, or maybe the driver?

There is no final driver for the card yet. 8.6 lacks support and the Hotfix does not provide full support for the card. 8.7 is BETA but makes %3.7 performance increase.

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
Catalyst 8.7, beta or not, I found to be very stable. I just rolled back to 8.6 because although I dont use the OC stuff in CCC, the temp reading is useful, saves using seperate apps. More specifically for the crashes, how hot are your 4850s getting? Stock coolers are usually rubbish and need setting to a permanent 75% in order to stop the GPU from cooking itself.
