The q6600 is a quad-core, and far superior to the e6420 (dual-core) in gaming and every other application. I would look into getting a new mb though for gaming, agp will bottleneck your video card performance bigtime (by limiting bandwidth and the choices).

Thanks for the quick reply its appreciated. And yeah i know the mobo isn't that great but that's because im looking to only blow about $300 to support my AGP 2600xt card and what not, its the best agp/pci board i could find that supported my card and along with c2d c2q etc... i will be upgrading a full rig in the future.
ps.. im just looking for a quick cpu/mb fix to help me play hellgate london without big fps drops and load times when explosions happen.
I currently have a p4, so this will do wonders... thanks again

Ah from a p4, yes indeed it will do wonders in many things. However, don't expect miracle gaming performance change. Gpu is far more important. You will certainly gain some performance, the the 2600xt is going to struggle w/ hellgate to some extent either way. A p4 to a q6600 is a huge jump in computing though.

The 2600 isn't doing as bad in the game as you would think, i run max and med settings with near the same fps, its just that like i said when explosions happen the fps drops quite a bit for a moment or from lets say 50 fps to like 10...you think this cpu (q6660) will help at all in that department or will it just make my ingame loads quicker ?

No it should help with that definitely. Physics and a.i. processing are primary cpu tasks in games, so yeah that should help a lot.

Hi ushy, yeah like Farlex said, a q6600 will diffenently help you out and is diffenetly a better cpu choice.
