Nice...I can't quite do 760 linked, but 760/1530 works well. I don't even game at that just due to the fact I don't NEED the extra performance from it...yet! Maybe when a 22-24" monitor is in place someday in the future...:D

WOW! Damn! I played with my buddies 24" Acer widescreen, it was amazing! I loaded up Vista x64 and got his 8800GT buzzing along, even with a Pentium D 3.4 Vista ran just awesome on his rig. He's got venting from his AC unit to his PC intake...31C load temps after 5 minutes of Orthos Small FFT's Priority 9 with AC Freezer 7 Pro lol!

Def. post a pic of that beast sometime tatty! :toast:

Hey tatty I just realized that 760 linked at least for my card would be 760/1638! WOW! That's 100 more MHz on shaders than I can attain atm! Pretty damn impressive stuff dude!

I'm a bit frustrated that you 260 folks are hitting such higher OC numbers than my 280s.

That's how I heard it was tho...with less goodies it's easier to OC...just be patient for the 200b's :D...hopefully those show some real crazyness!

One more thing, even OC'd to my max...I can't compete with your 280. :toast:

Well you know what they say....100mhz on the shaders is worth 130mhz on the core.....not sure if thats true though.

Is it worth getting a real PhysX card to complement my single GTX 260 at this moment? Wouldn't there be driver conflicts? Are they even updating the original PhysX drivers?

No benefit from a 2nd dedicated card with the 200 series as they have CUDA 3.0.....with G92 and G80 yes but not with your 260, you would be just wasting your money.

I was just wondering since there are lot of these PhysX cards floating around on trade boards for cheap.

I've been overclocking my GTX a bit today and I have pushed it to 729/1458 core/shader with VRAM at stock. VRAM is easy to damage and nearly impossible to repair/replace aside from RMA'ing the whole card so I decided to leave it alone. This card has plenty of bandwidth already and if it's anything like my old X850XT or 8800GTX then VRAM overclocks won't do much performance-wise. (With my old X850XT for every 10% I overclocked the VRAM I only gained 1.5% in benchmarks, or less. 8800GTX did little better.)

Actually, I set my GTX clocks to 720/1450, but it corrected itself to 729/1458. Anyways, 729MHz comes to 26.5% overclock on the core compared to stock. My temperatures haven't risen by much under load vs. stock clocks. (about 2C higher)

Hey all. New poster and new gtx 260 owner. So far loving the cards! Been having a few issues while ocing with rivatuner at the moment. I notice my core and shader link seems higher than other gtx's I've seen which I think is making my overclocks less stable, artifacting after 15 mins or so in COD4. Question for Kursah if I may, do you know if you can flash the bios on these cards while you have two? My rig is SLI right now and I would rather not modify it physically unless I have to. I spent a good amount of time the other night rerouting my cables which is a pain. I am going to try when I get off work unlinking and making the ratio 1:2 as you said bro. This thread is the best info I've found yet for 260/280 stuff. I've been googling like a madman. Has anyone here had the pleasure of trying to oc 260's in SLI. Mine are bfg gtx260 OC edition which I got for free(legally!). I look forward to hearing some replies. This seems like a good forum and a wealth of info ITT for gtx260/280 stuff. Peace guys. Also I am at the office right now so I can't post any screenshots of GPU-Z etc but I will add/edit my post tomorrow with the results. Probably will do more testing this morning and much more in the latter part of the week. EDIT: also thanks Kursah for the ratio info as I OCED my clocks pretty well a few times and noticed my 3dmark06 score decreased! The reason why is probably exactly what you mentioned as far as the downclocking.

You need to flash the cards individually, so take one out....flash....replace with the other and flash that one. Don't use rivatuner, I would suggest using EVGA Precision Tool, I have tried both and Precision tool is MUCH better and stable. I do all my overclocking linked and have managed 770 on the core linked to shaders @ 1675mhz I think,,,,,shaders is where it's at, I would rather lose 20mhz on core speed to gain 40mhz on shader speed if it works that way.

Ohhhh.............and welcome to TPU!

question for you guys. i'm running ati tool testing this oc right now which is so far so good but one of my cards is damn near 11 degrees hotter than the other. now, i have my fans cranked up which is fine cuz the noise isn't terrible but is this normal? does atitool use sli? i think it may be my northbridge cooler on my 780i board blowing air on my top video card. if it is that will need to be fixed. can anyone confirm?

Quick OC update: I got it to 756MHz on the core and 1512MHz on the shaders (GPU-Z screen-cap below). I went through few runs of 3DMark 2006 and 3DMark 2003, plus another 35 minutes in FurMark. Looks stable so far and no artifacts, crashes or lockups.

It comes out to 31.25% overclock on the core. Crazy stuff with only a stock cooler. This card has been the most overclockable since my old R480 based GeCube X800GTO.

Can you not link shaders at that core speed?.....I must be very lucky then!

I've tried linking which gives me 1630MHz on the shaders with 756Mhz on the core, but I get artifacts in FurMark pretty fast. I think I'm limited by shaders. Anything above 756MHz on the core, even unlinked, results in shader clock upping itself byitself. I guess there is a ratio that must be kept no matter what or maybe it's EVGA Precision Tool issue?

I'm limited by shaders, I had an increase in their stability a little bit after the first week or two of running it...but much beyond 1570 on shaders and I artifact...in DX9 stuff at least lol!

I could run Vantage at 795/1590 1280 and got 12.5k, yet couldn't make it 20 seconds in to 3dM06 before artifacting and hitching happened...still working on that tho. I did notice that there's a different ratio for gpu:shader link between my stock bios and an evga ftw bios...seems the ftw bios has a closer to 1:2 ratio. Dunno if that's worth anything or not at this point tho.

Man, I should have gone with EVGA, my Leadtek GTX260 won't get me past 750 on core even if I lower down my shader to 1500... My best is just over 740 (unlinked).

Tatty is right on 'burning-in' the card, I ran at 701 (linked) at 24x7 few weeks ago, now I can get 24x7 721 (linked) with 3dM06 17.6K (when run at 70% fan speed on stock cooling, the temp never get past 50C even after full 5 runs of 3dM06)

- anyway, really, don't need this high for me as gaming at 1680x1050 shows no lag even on Crysis at 4xAA even at stock. I was feeling a slight regret when I got this (vs. 4870) but no regret now!

Btw, any of you know if I can use EVGA Precision Tools to OC my Leadtek GTX260 as I am using RivaTuner now. The Nvidia tools is even more hopeless!

Yes it EVGA Precision will work just fine...it works for previous NV cards and other brands...it's made by the same creator of Rivatuner.

:toast:

Give it time, I wish I had tatty's card man...that thing screams! I've seen more and more as mine get's a little older...as long as I'm content, which I am even at stock it's all good. Looking forward to stepping up to a 200b or 260+ eventually tho...depending if the price is right.
