I was wandering what new video cards will be coming out in Q1 of next year? Some ideas anyone? What does the future has in stake for the Video Computing world?

Post Ideas and what y'all think we will be able to do by next year? No more ATi and Nvidia, just one card now since of the x58 chip???

I think 45nm gpu's might be on the cards with higher clock frequencys less heat maybe 4 cores ftw! we can only wish.

I believe the 380GTX will be out quite soon, plus I believe AMD will be skipping the 45nm node and progressing straight toward the 40nm (1/2 node). Should be very interesting to see what the next generation of GPUs holds, considering AMD have sorted their shit out and nvidia have fucked their shit up (sorry for obscenities :D).

Cant wait to see what the future holds for us both in the GPU and CPU fields!!

4x4870x2? lol, so the scaling normally is 2%. Going by that algorithm, with all 4 of them, you might be able to get 4% higher FPS, 5% if overclocked!!! lol.

DISCLAIMER: there were no facts stated in the beforesaid paragraph, no links will be presented to back it up, being that it is not entirely true, therefore no flaming is allowed about how im completely wrong and just dissing ATI, I love ATI, I just have a 9800GX2 because i found a great deal.

not true at all. ATI scales FAR better than NVDA. the 4870x2s arent looking that great because there is no cpu that can feed the data fast enough yet. when bloomefield comes out that problem will be solved.

Rather than multi-gpu's why not dual core gpu's. Is that even possible?

is it? of course, however there's much more money and hype in crossfire and sli
that's what's holding back multi core gpus IMO
we'd probably already have multi core gpus right now if SLI and crossfire hadn't been designed

Then again, wouldnt you like to see a dual core gpu vid card in cf/sli configuration? I know I would! Would be the s***!!

I think multi core gpu's will be the next big thing. I've been wondering why they haven't taken the step yet, but I think Nathan is right, xfire and sli is slowing this down. but it would still be awesome to see, however I wonder if scaling will be as good as xfire and sli, like would a dual core 4870 be same thing as 4870 x2, it raises allot of questions.

I thought the problem was that since GPU's are made from hundreds of tiny cores, it wouldn't really be dual cores, but dual dies like the x2 cards are. If they manage to get the die size small enough, they could certainly add 3 or 4 to a card without much problem, especially with GDDR5 not needing any specific trace length to operate properly. The problem comes down to the multiple auxiliary controllers per die. Adding more dies to a card isn't going to add more speed than a single large die would. A large die would have more cores and less auxiliary to run it on.

I think... o.o

stating any facts, or anything beyond pure speculation requires me to get my lazy a$$ onto google, and like i stated b4, im pretty lazy. Best to state opinionated facts than to do any work.

all we need is a board that supports it. if i had a board with 3 evenly spaced slots and another x2 i'd give it a try. thats the WHOLE reason the x2's have sideport... it's the bridge for the 3rd and 4th x2. NO ONE gets that.

it just maddens me when i see....

"how do you enable sideport?"

you put in a 3rd/4th card!!!!!!!!

someone borrow me an x2 with a waterblock on it and i'll be MORE THAN happy to prove my point/knowledge.
