they work differently then range extenders do. They plug into your router instead of repeating the signal does. They have amplifiers on them while traditional high gain antennas are passive. Awesome! Their stuff is very smooth to setup. it's basically a full power access point that doesn't need a LAN cable to the router. About the LED light... hmm never noticed that on the SR20000G... it prolly did it differently.... oh well

with the SR20000G you can be wired and wireless for setup.... the initial setup has to be done with the wired connection, as it has to give it a DHCP IP to configure. it relies on the router or access point that you are extending for that after the setup. When the SR20G would loose connectivity with the R10 I couldn't get an IP address from the extender. I purposely did screwed up a few times for the review to see how good it is at fixing itself and it was pretty easy to get stuff back to normal. It actually was able to operate on 20Mhz mode while the router was in 40Mhz mode as well.
