hi, can anyone tell me how to stop my pc from hibernating or change time lapse setting cos every time i walk away from my pc for what seems like a few minutes, i have to log back in with my password, not a great inconvenience but annoying none the less!!!

ok, if so, how do i overcome this situation? is it a case of replacing something in my pc and just expect that to remedy the problem, or hand the hard drive to a pc repairer with the discs and letting them get on with it? i think i spoke to you yesterday and explained my frustration at not...

if its my optical drive what do i do? all my other discs have worked in the last couple of years? or is it similar to how a cd player will not always play a cd burnt from the computer, or a dvd will sometimes play up on a certain dvd player??

sorry, im not sure what the official title of such a disc should be called, is it not just a copy of the original restore disc that came with my pc when i bought it? i believe this is the standard way of wiping a pc if you lost the restore disc supplied originally?

the disc has been supplied to me by a reputable source, i have lost my original disc and they have sent me what is presumably a copy, 3 times in fact, to check whether the one sent before is faulty.

further to previous thread, i am now ready to wipe my pc and start again, however, when i put relevant disc in to proceed( i have 3 of them, but none the original restore cd), i click on yes to start process after 'warning you gonna lose all data', but then 'cdr101- not ready reading drive'...

please please someone help me before i put my foot thru the computer, i want to wipe my pc completely, and have transferred any photos and the like to cd-r and usb key pen( is this the same as aflash pen?????). ihave one set of photos and videos which takes up 1gb of space but the cd-r doesnt...

well thanks for all the replies, i live in N.Ireland, would you believe me if i told you all that i have made my daughter wait 12 to 18 months longer than all,yes all, of her friends, i agree that there is no need for kids to have laptops, but she is studious, intelligent and has been made aware...

just wondered if anyone could suggest a 'first ever' laptop for my girls birthday.... if i stick to £350 budget am i asking for trouble or should it do the job, ie, web cam, homework, sims and the like? should i go for 2G memory, i am a bit in the dark shall we say!! thanks
